Ben Higgins Says He’ll ‘Stop Watching’ If ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Does This in Season 10

Ben Higgins has a controversial Bachelor in Paradise opinion. The former Bachelor is not about to jump on the bandwagon and hate on the idea of a mixed version of the beach-set spinoff with the younger crowd and Golden Bachelor(ette) contestants. Instead, he admitted he loves the idea on his podcast, Almost Famous, with Ashley Iaconetti.

This surprised Iaconetti, who exclaimed, “Oh, really, you’re the only one.” The 36-year-old has his reasons. He just simply has more faith in them than most. “The Goldens I know are, one, way too wise, way too fatherly and motherly and caring to ever for a chance consider that,” Higgins said when discussing whether the Golden contestants would date the 20-somethings. “I think it’s going to be a great dynamic of wisdom and honesty with the Goldens also having so much fun.”

His opinion on the blended version of BiP has one contingency – the younger and older crowds need to be in separate dating pools. Higgins joked, “If we see Susan [Noles] and Kathy [Swarts] making out with a 22-year-old, that’s when I’ll stop watching the show forever.”

Other than that, he’s thrilled to see the two groups join forces. “I think it’s going to be fun. I am glad we’ll get to see the Goldens in a different environment. I like that show. I am a fan of that show. I want to see more of them, and if it has to be on Paradise with the other contestants, I’ll gladly take it,” he said. “I think it could be a huge win if the show does it well.”

Iaconetti also doesn’t believe that the groups are about to mix much. She said, “When you put it into perspective for these people. It is like making out with your child’s friend.” Higgins agreed and added, “Yeah, it’s not going to happen… The Goldens are way too wise to let that happen but if it ever even gets hinted at, I think it’s stupid. Keep it separate.”

Such a fan of The Golden Bachelor franchise, Higgins has an idea for him to be involved with the production. “I don’t want to take Wells’ job. There’s nobody who can do this better than Wells [Adams], but if there are two bars, two separate filming spots, I personally feel like I should be the bartender for the Goldens because I’ve wanted to be a part of that show from the very beginning,” he confessed. “I was willing to work on the show. I was willing to clean on the show. I was willing to do anything possible to be around these people more. Maybe, it’s time for me to make a second push.”
