Still shocked by the events that transpired in The White Lotus Season 3 finale? Well, then you are certainly not alone. From the “together forever” scene to the almost murder-suicide, the ending was truly bonkers.

Turns out, the episode could have been ever more intense if creator Mike White had kept one extra segment in the finale. There was an entire scene between Piper Ratliff (Sarah Catherine Hook) and Zion Lindsey (Nicholas Duvernay) that didn’t make it into the 90-minute episode.

If you’re thinking a Piper and Zion scene sounds random, you’re right. These two didn’t have any interaction, but there’s a world in which they would’ve become linked to each other. Hopping onto the official White Lotus podcast, White admitted that there originally was a scene where Piper “decides to lose her virginity in the script in the last episode. And she actually has sex with Zion, which is Belinda’s (Natasha Rothwell) son.”

He continued, “There’s a whole scene where she’s like, ‘It’s true, Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) is right about this one thing. I need to get this over with.'”

Most of the season was focused on Piper’s dream to join a monastery in Thailand to practice Buddhism, but that all unraveled when she spent a night on the compounds. She realized she’s more like her mom (Parker Posey) than she ever imagined. Piper ultimately caved and embraced her world of privilege. According to White, after Piper left the monastery, she wanted to have sex. “She’s scoping the restaurant, you know, in the end,” White noted.

The creator wanted to keep the scene, but he had to nix certain moments for time purposes. “It’s an hour and a half already, and it would have added, like, 10 minutes to the thing,” White admitted.

Reminiscing about what could’ve been, White shared, “It had a little bit of a romantic rom-com vibe in the middle of trying to kill the family with the pong fruits… It just felt like I was trying to do too much.”
