‘Ransom Canyon’s Josh Duhamel Shares Rare Update About Quiet Life With Wife Audra Mari & Kids
Josh Duhamel plays a ranch owner in Netflix’s upcoming series Ransom Canyon, and the role isn’t too far off from what he’s like in his everyday life. The actor owns property in Minnesota and enjoys staying there whenever possible.
The actor is married to Audra Mari and has two children—one son, Axl, with ex Fergie, and another son, Shepherd, with Mari—and he gave a rare update on their life in the Midwest.
“Part of the reason I built my place out in Minnesota, deep in the woods, is it’s removed from everything,” Duhamel told Parade. “The closest store is 40 miles away. Once we get there, it’s really about everybody taking care of each other. Making memories, spending time with family and friends. You really get a chance to get back to the basics. You’re not consumed by all these other distractions. When you’re out there, it’s really about having fun, making sure everybody’s warm, everybody’s got food and water.”

The actor spent 15 years transforming the plot of land into the haven it is today. “My son is going to have memories of this place forever,” he gushed. “He’s not on his iPad when he’s out there. He’s out there in the boat with me, or he’s playing soccer on the beach, or he’s out there in the woods doing whatever I’m doing. And then I have a little baby who’s going to experience the same thing.”
Duhamel is hoping to “pass on” the land to his sons so they can share it with their own children. “It’s really important to me that they have this,” he admitted. “It’s not just about having all the amenities and all the luxuries that we become so used to. It’s really about family. It’s about legacy.”
After separating from Fergie in 2017 following eight years of marriage, Duhamel was first linked to Mari in 2019 (he later revealed that they met after he slid into her DMs). His divorce from the Black Eyed Peas singer, whom he has “very little conflict” with while coparenting, was finalized later that year. In January 2022, Duhamel and Mari announced their engagement and they tied the knot that September. Shepherd was born in January 2024.
