‘Ransom Canyon’ Stars Tease Lucas & Lauren’s Future & the Deleted Scene You Didn’t See (VIDEO)
The teens of Ransom Canyon have just as much drama in their lives as the adults. Lucas Russell (Garrett Wareing), Lauren Brigman (Lizzy Greene), and Reid Collins (Andrew Liner) have to balance family drama, the future, and school.
The first season of the Netflix series ended with the shocking reveal that Lucas’ brother, Kit (Casey W. Johnson), and Lauren’s mother, Margaret (Sarah Minnich), were having an affair. They were together the night Randall Kirkland (Hubert Smielecki) died, and Margaret was behind the wheel of the car that ran him off the road. Kit was willing to go to jail for Margaret, but once Lauren found out the truth, she told her dad. Sheriff Brigman (Philip Winchester) arrested his own wife after a heartbreaking choice between love and duty.
Lucas and Lauren’s relationship had finally gotten to a solid place, but will the family drama tear them apart in a potential Season 2? Swooon went straight to the source, and the cast revealed surprising details.
“I know at least for Lauren, there was some stuff that ended up getting cut that actually fueled exactly what you just asked,” Greene revealed. “I kind of like that they cut it because that scene was with someone that… I can’t say… I’m really excited for it. I think it’s one of those things where I don’t even know how much we can even talk about. I’m really excited. I think, if anything, it’s going to throw us on the rocks.”
Greene never disclosed who she shared the scene with—Kit, perhaps?—and Wareing added that it’s “going to give us something to deal with” moving forward.
Now, we can’t forget about Lucas’ sweet declaration of love to Lauren at the dance hall. When Lauren was uncertain about their relationship because of what happened with their families, Lucas got up in front of everyone to assure her that he will support her through whatever happens next.
Turns out, Wareing went off script for one take of Lucas’ big moment for a very important reason. “We’re six months into this production that has been the greatest thing in my life, and the fact that Ransom Canyon has gifted me two of my best friends in this life and the incredible experiences we had on set, it meant so much to me to then be concluding this experience of my life,” the actor told Swooon. “I got up on that stage and began my speech as usual and halfway through I stopped and I continued my speech as Garrett, and I took that time to thank our crew members and our background and our writers and our sound team and makeup and transportation.”
The actor admitted that he “cried on stage thanking everybody for what this experience was.”
But what about Reid? Reid and Lauren were supposed to be the town’s quintessential teen couple until Lucas stepped into the picture. Reid clearly still has feelings for Lauren, so don’t count him out just yet.
“I think that it ain’t over til it’s over, but more so I think he’s grown a lot as a person from Episode 1 to Episode 10 so Lauren sees that,” Linder said. “And Lucas sees that. They have a mutual respect of one another, and she’s got a wandering eye, so we’ll see what happens.”
