Samantha Riehl certainly made a lasting impression on Farmer Wants a Wife Season 3. The dater and Farmer John Sansone hit it off right away (with their “mean flirting”), and he even picked her to come back to his farm before anyone else.

Why did Samantha Riehl leave Farmer Wants a Wife?

From the jump, Samantha Riehl was hesitant about the Farmer Wants a Wife experience. On their first date, Samantha shocked John Sansone by telling him that she wasn’t going to kiss him.

“I cannot kiss you on camera,” she explained. “There is a reason for that. I’m going to marry someone someday. It might be you. It might not be you, and I do not want something of me kissing another man on television.”

John told Swooon that her no-kiss rule was a “big revelation” in the moment. “I was a little mad because it was a tiny bit humiliating, but it was nice to have the martini there because that definitely helped,” he said. “That also could have been a reason that I actually went for the kiss. I mean, everybody’s got their own reasons for doing what they do. I respect it, whatever, move on.”

Later, Samantha admitted that she needed more time with John in order to see if they were compatible. She ultimately decided to leave.”I need to tell you right now you are one of the most amazing guys that I’ve ever met in my life,” she said before her exit. “You are probably one of the most fiercely loyal people I’ve ever met. God-fearing, family-oriented and everything that I’ve ever looked for in a man.”

She told John that he’s “very much someone that likes to be in the driver’s seat — and so am I.” Samantha added, “I think you need someone who’s going to let you lead.”

What has John Sansone said about Samantha Riehl’s exit?

John addressed Samantha leaving the show at Desert Rodeo. He was asked if he ever thought Samantha could be “the one” for him, and he told People, “There were thoughts for all of them where I thought they could be the one.”

The Missouri native went on to say that “most things come and go — and I think it was certainly confirmed when she left.”

It all started when one of Samantha’s TikTok videos featuring country singer Tucker Wetmore went viral in April 2025. She also shared the video on Instagram and wrote, “Favorite song is out on Friday.”

A few days later, Tucker’s ex, Bryana Ferringer, posted a TikTok video with Farmer John at Stagecoach. A total coincidence?! It’s unclear.

Many fans thought Samantha was throwing shade at John when she shared a TikTok video with the caption, “I’ll tell you right now the man you want to marry is not setting up his phone and taking tiktoks.” The video notably used the song “Country Sayings” by… Tucker Wetmore. John and Samantha haven’t explicitly addressed the possible drama, but the fans are running wild with speculation.
