Arie Luyendyk Jr. has moved on from his Bachelor Nation days, which is why fans were so surprised to see him referencing his controversial The Bachelor finale in a new Instagram post.

The Season 22 star infamously dumped his final pick, Becca Kufrin, for runner-up Lauren Burnham (now Luyendyk) after filming ending, then proposed to Lauren at After the Final Rose. While recently cleaning out his garage, Luyendyk came across a few copies of his and Lauren’s post-finale People magazine cover.

“I remember back then hating these photos that they chose,” Luyendyk admitted while flipping through the magazine. He then covered up a photo of him and Kufrin that was featured in the spread and said, “Gosh, don’t look at that.”

“It’s crazy to find this, honestly,” Luyendyk concluded. “It feels like a lifetime ago. But hey, look at us now!” In fact, it was seven years ago, and since then, the former lead and Lauren have gone on to get married and welcome three kids. They’re currently expecting their fourth child.

Along with his video, Luyendyk acknowledged, “The time we were being roasted as a couple but we knew what we had.” He also captioned it, “Couldn’t have made it through without @laurenluyendyk. FYI only 3 Bachelors out of 29 seasons are married lol.”

Sean Lowe is the only former Bachelor to marry his final pick, Catherine Lowe. He joked in the comments of Luyendyk’s post, “I always said it would never last. Lauren is great but the dude she ended up with is kind of a tool. I haven’t paid attention, whatever happened to them?”

Like Luyendyk, Jason Mesnick is married to his runner-up, Molly Malaney. Another Bachelor star will be added to the list this summer when Zach Shallcross and Kaity Biggar tie the knot. Plus, there’s still hope for Joey Graziadei and Kelsey Anderson, as well as Grant Ellis and Juliana Pasquarosa, who are both still together.

Things didn’t turn out so bad for Kufrin, either. She met her now-husband, Thomas Jacobs, on Season 7 of Bachelor in Paradise, and gave birth to their son in 2023.
