Well, Farmer Wants a Wife Season 3 just took a turn. Samantha Riehl was an immediate frontrunner for Farmer John Sansone‘s heart, but her early departure from the show seemingly nipped any chance of a happy ending for them in the bud.
In the weeks since her surprising exit, fans have been wondering about where John and Samantha stand today. There’s been some off-camera drama that fans have picked up on, but a new development changes everything.
John and Samantha were pictured together at one of the Academy of Country Music Awards kickoff events on May 7. Samantha’s friend, Cody Crawford, shared the photo on his Instagram Story and wrote, “Farmers start your engines!” John and Samantha were joined by fellow Season 3 stars Matt Warren and Lily Ayres. Samantha reposted the Instagram Story.
Farmer Wants a Wife Season 3 is still airing, and Lily is one of John’s final three daters. Could this photo be hinting at his ultimate decision? Or is it just a casual country hangout?

Samantha caught John’s eye from the start, and he invited her back to his Missouri farm before anyone else. During their first one-on-one date, Samantha made the declaration that she wouldn’t kiss John on camera. “I was a little mad because it was a tiny bit humiliating, but it was nice to have the martini there because that definitely helped,” John told Swooon.
Samantha ultimately chose to leave the show because she didn’t feel their compatibility was where it should be. Since her exit on the show, which was filmed months ago, fans have become convinced there’s friction between the Season 3 stars. Samantha shared a TikTok video featuring country singer Tucker Wetmore, and John was seen with Tucker’s ex, Bryana Ferringer, at Stagecoach shortly after that.
John and Samantha haven’t outright addressed the supposed drama, but this new reunion proves they’re at least on friendly terms.
