It’s officially been 15 years since Pretty Little Liars premiered on Freeform and sparked a years-long mystery about the identity of “A.” But when the Liars weren’t trying to fend off their stalker, there was plenty of romance to be had (even if some of their love interests ended up betraying them).

The show spanned seven seasons and more than 150 episodes, so the ladies went through a lot of ups and downs in their love lives. A time jump in Season 6 led to even more complications in the Liars’ relationships. Were their high school romances meant to last? Scroll down for a refresh on which couples ended up together!

Did Aria and Ezra end up together on Pretty Little Liars?

Looking back, the Ezria relationship, which began when he was her teacher and she was his high school student, was obviously problematic. But, somehow, at the time, Aria (Lucy Hale) and Ezra (Ian Harding) were a highly-shipped TV couple. They hooked up in the very first episode of the show, and although their relationship had to overcome plenty of obstacles, they eventually ended up together.

Aria and Ezra got married in the series finale. During the episode, she also revealed to him that she wasn’t able to have biological children of her own. On the spinoff Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, Alison (Sasha Pieterse) received a text from Aria saying that she and Ezra had “brought home” their adopted baby, who they named Katherine Ella.

Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin also referenced Aria and Ezra’s relationship when Imogen (Bailee Madison) revealed that she found a Rosewood couple (Aria and Ezra) who had been trying to have a child for a long time. She planned to have them adopt her baby, but in the Pretty Little Liars: Summer School premiere, Imogen said she changed her mind because she “got a weird vibe from that Ezra dude.” Instead, she had a local couple adopt her daughter.

Did Spencer and Toby end up together on Pretty Little Liars?

Yes, Spoby did end up together, but their fate wasn’t exactly clear to fans in the series finale. Although Spencer (Troian Bellisario) and Toby (Keegan Allen) reconnected before the final events of the episode, they didn’t have a clear-cut happily ever after like Aria and Ezra.

Without getting into the nitty-gritty details of the complicated final episode, Spencer realized that Toby truly knew her when he was able to tell her and her twin, Alex Drake, apart in the finale showdown. It was a nice moment but didn’t exactly clarify whether they had a future together.

Showrunner I. Marlene King clarified the couple’s ending after the episode aired. “Yes [they ended up together]. I hope fans got that,” she told EW. “We literally did say, ‘Could we have a double wedding? Or should we have a triple wedding?’ That felt like it was a little too much. But I think they got their happy ending.” She also called Toby’s ability to tell Spencer and Alex apart a “huge romantic moment,” and admitted it “never occurred” to her that fans wouldn’t be happy with Spoby’s ending.

Spoby’s future was confirmed even further in PLL: The Perfectionists when Mona (Janel Parrish) spoke on the phone with Hanna (Ashley Benson). Although we only heard Mona’s side of the conversation, she did say, “Wait, Hanna, back up. What do you mean? Spencer and Toby eloped? Are they registered somewhere? Of course I want to get them a gift.”

So, yes, in the end, Spencer and Toby did get married!

Did Hanna and Caleb end up together on Pretty Little Liars?

Perhaps the most beloved PLL couple of all, Hanna and Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) were also destined to be together. Although she was engaged to someone else after the time jump, she and Caleb eventually found their way back to each other.

After Hanna ended her engagement in Season 7, she and Caleb reconciled, and he eventually proposed. They got married in the third to last episode of the show. The spontaneous wedding took place at a courthouse and was Caleb’s idea. He wanted to make sure they wouldn’t have to testify against each other if something went down on the hunt for A.D. He said they should tie the knot “while we still can.”

In the series finale, Hanna revealed that she was pregnant. The child was referenced during Mona and Hanna’s PLL: The Perfectionists phone call when Mona asked her friend how the baby was doing.

Did Emily and Alison end up together on Pretty Little Liars?

Emily (Shay Mitchell) had a number of girlfriends throughout the series, but Alison was her OG love. Long before she had clarity about her sexuality, Emily was in love with Alison, and when her best friend was confirmed to be alive, it was only a matter of time before they got together.

During Season 7, Alison found out she was pregnant. While she thought it was Archer’s (Huw Collins) baby, she later found out that she had been artificially inseminated. Emily previously planned to donate her eggs to pay for college after losing her scholarship, but A.D. ended up using the eggs, along with Wren’s (Julian Morris) sperm, to impregnate Alison.

Alison eventually gave birth to twin girls. She and Emily decided to parent them together, and they got engaged during the Pretty Little Liars series finale.

However, PLL: The Perfectionists revealed that it wasn’t happily ever after for Alison and Emily. They began a long-distance relationship after Alison got a job at a university, and they weren’t able to make it work.

Once the spinoff ended, though, King took to X to share an update on where she felt Emison was today: “Emison is going strong. They are reunited and loving each other hard. Plus they are great moms, raising their daughters to be strong women who are true to themselves and their identities.”
