The Best & Worst Wedding Dates of 2026, According to an Astrologer

Weddings are supposed to celebrate excitement, passion, and love. Under the wrong circumstances, however, they can quickly turn you into an anxiety-filled mess. (Think: weather mishaps, unpredictable wedding guests, or family feuds.) But we probably don’t need to explain everything bad that can happen at your wedding. If you’re planning one now, you’ve likely had nightmares about it already!
But what you may not know is that everything that could go wrong at a wedding — from weather to technology glitches to bridesmaid tiffs or raunchy behavior — can be predicted by the stars. That’s right. So, buckle up, because we’re going to dive into the best (and worst) 2026 dates to plan a wedding, all based on astrology.
Astrology Transits to Avoid When Planning a Wedding Date
Retrogrades
Uranus transits
Harsh Venus transits
(Most) eclipses
Long void of course moons
The energy occurring in the sky on the day you get married will indicate two things: how the wedding day will go and also how the marriage will work out long-term. For example, getting married during a Mercury retrograde may suggest that the couple will experience communication issues in their marriage. Getting hitched during a void of course moon (“void moon”) may result in emotional distance between the couple.
This makes it so important to consult astrology to set yourself up for the most advantageous marriage. Use this article to help out your wedding planning or talk to a professional astrologer (like me!) to identify the best wedding dates for you. To get you started, here are some of the worst dates of 2026 to get married.
Worst Wedding Dates 2026
January 10: VOC Moon
February 26 – March 20: Mercury Retrograde
February 8: Venus-Uranus Square
March 3: Full Moon Eclipse
March 20: VOC Moon
May 20: VOC Moon
June 29 – July 23: Mercury Retrograde
July 3: VOC Moon
July 13: Venus-Uranus Square
August 28: Full Moon Eclipse
October 3 – November 14
January 10, March 20, May 20, and July 3: VOC Moons
The moon is “void” when it doesn’t make any aspects to surrounding planets. You can think of this energy as the moon floating in the sky without direction, intention, or purpose. Since the moon represents our inner emotions and hearts, a void moon can provide landscape for feelings of disassociation, mixed messages, and emotional distance. Those are definitely not ways you want to start a marriage!
February 8 and July 13: Venus-Uranus Square
Uranus throws a wrench in everyone’s plans, and when it syncs up with Venus, that means best laid love plans are thrown out the window. But there’s more: The February 8 transit will occur right before eclipse season starts, which brings even more chaotic energy. The July 13 transit is concurrent with a Mercury retrograde.
February 26 – March 20: Mercury Retrograde (22° – 8° Pisces)
June 29 – July 23: Mercury Retrograde (26° – 16° Cancer)
October 24 – November 13: Mercury Retrograde (20° – 5° Scorpio)
First of all, don’t get married during a Mercury retrograde if you can help it (which is why every Mercury retrograde of 2026 is on this list). Mercury is the planet of communication, and when it’s retrograde, it offers many opportunities for missed cues, mixed signals, travel issues, and downright confusion. A wedding with these influences can cause major delays, broken equipment, long, drawn-out speeches, and communication mix-ups.
March 3 and August 28: Full Moon Eclipse (12° Virgo + 4° Pisces)
Eclipses occur around what’s called the “Nodes of Fate.” All you really need to know about them is just that they represent fated or destined moments in time. This is why eclipses are like exaggerated new and full moons. They ignite destiny and push our timelines forward. Full moon eclipses, however, can be heavy and exhausting. They can suggest deep endings that are painful and hard to come back from. Starting a marriage on that foot? Unadvised.
October 3 – November 14: Venus retrograde (8° Scorpio – 22° Libra)
If you can avoid it, this once-a-year transit is likely the worst time to get married. And this Venus retrograde in particular is especially difficult because it will also coincide with the October 24 Mercury retrograde. Two retrogrades are worse than one!
Venus retrogrades cause us to analyze our partnerships and highlight the cracks. It can bring up pain points and trauma, which can lead to fights, doubts, or sometimes even breakups. If you’re a solid couple already, you should be okay. But that doesn’t mean the experience will lack drama. Weddings definitely don’t need any of that.
Astrology Transits to Look for When Planning a Wedding Date
Favorable Venus transits
Favorable Jupiter transits
New moons
North Node transits
Picking a wedding day with positive and influential transits will help your wedding go smoothly and may even contribute to a longer, healthier relationship in the end. You’ll want to look for favorable transits with the planet of love, Venus, and the planet of luck, Jupiter. You’ll also want to identify any North Node transits, which represent destiny and fate. And finally, new moons can always bring new beginnings — especially if they’re conjoined by favorable planets or are in signs that represent love.
Best Wedding Dates 2026
January 6: Venus Cazimi
January 7: Venus-Mars Conjunction
February 17: Venus-North Node Conjunction
March 7: Venus-Neptune Conjunction
May 16: Taurus New Moon
June 9: Venus-Jupiter Conjunction + Moon-Neptune Conjunction
July 29: Jupiter Cazimi
August 12: Leo New Moon Eclipse
January 6 and July 29: Cazimis
A “cazimi” occurs when a planet makes an exact conjunction with the super-powered sun. This heightens the energy of the planet and often only happens once a year. The Venus cazimi on January 6 will provide an overdose of pleasure, love, and happiness for any wedding. The Jupiter cazimi on July 29 will provide abundance, happiness, and luck for a wedding.
January 7: Venus-Mars Conjunction
This day is sexy. To be granted with killer sex for the rest of your days and the best honeymoon, this date is a great choice. Additionally, on the wedding day itself, everyone will just be in a good mood and have a great time.
February 17: Venus-North Node Conjunction
The North Node acts as a channel toward our fated path. Next to Venus, it provides direct access to the kind of love story we’re fated for. This would bless a wedding with deep, long-lasting intentions and some karmic, soulmate-level good luck.
March 7: Venus-Neptune Conjunction
Neptune loves getting a little disillusioned. And while sometimes it’s not great to get lost, other times — like when Neptune links up with Venus — it’s all about dreamy escapes. Can you say rose-colored glasses and having a fantastical wedding?
May 16: Taurus New Moon
Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet of love. Taurus is a life-giving sign — obsessed with breathing growth and beauty into whatever it can touch. So, when a wedding is blessed by a Taurus new moon, that lunation is literally breathing new life into the relationship.
June 9: Venus-Jupiter Conjunction and Moon-Neptune Conjunction
Venus and Jupiter together can suggest a wedding that is full of energy, presents, and good vibes. And thanks to the Neptune-moon connection happening at the same time, you’re likely to fall even deeper in love.
August 12: Leo New Moon Eclipse
We said earlier that eclipse energy is too chaotic for setting intentions. However, this new moon eclipse is going to provide the best kind of karmic energy for a wedding. Not only does a new moon eclipse give us a powered-up new beginning, but Venus and Jupiter are connecting in a supportive aspect. Whatever happens today (wedding included), has a touch of fate mixed with powerful emotions around love and hope for the future.
