Tyson Beckford Turned Down ‘Kings Court’ Multiple Times — Why He Finally Said Yes

Model Tyson Beckford is ready for a fresh start when it comes to his love life. He’s one of the three suitors searching for his forever sweetheart in Bravo’s new reality dating series Kings Court.
However, at first, Beckford was hesitant about joining the show. “When I first got the call, I mean, I wasn’t interested. I actually turned this down four or more times,” he told Swooon.
Beckford admitted that he “wasn’t looking for a relationship” ahead of joining the show, but he was keeping an open mind about everything, including getting married in the future. “I mean, that’s why I said, ‘You know what? Let me get on the show because you never know where you’re going to meet Mrs. Right,” he said.
The 54-year-old also noted that he’s a very “private person” and has always desired to keep some of his life out of the spotlight.
“You say to yourself, ‘Damn, do I want to have my whole business out there like that for people to judge?’ For me, I was like, ‘You know what? This could eliminate a lot of BS rumors, so let me do it,” the model explained. “Because, in society, if they don’t see you with a woman, they think, okay, he’s probably gay, or she looks so bad that he don’t want nobody to see her. It’s none of those issues. I’m a private person. Work is work. When I’m not at work, I just want to be out having a good time. My favorite thing to do is mind my business.”
Once Beckford started his Kings Court journey, he went all in. “I wear my heart on my sleeve, so there’s some episodes where I cry. A lot of the confessions and a lot of the sitting there talking to the producers was kind of like seeing a therapist,” he told Swooon.
The supermodel will be the first to admit that his wants and needs in a relationship have changed through the years. For Beckford, one of the biggest things he’s changed his mind about has been about kids.
“Carlos [Boozer] and Thaddeus [Bullard] don’t want any more kids. I was the only one on the show that wanted more kids,” Beckford revealed. (He has a son from a previous relationship.) “So, you look at things differently. I love kids. I think kids are amazing. I have one, but I chose not to have multiple ones because I wanted them all from the same woman. I know sometimes it’s out of your control how it happened. For me, I never did that. I have one baby moms, and that’s it.”
