On July 24, Deadline announced that two beloved actors had joined the cast of Fathom Entertainment and Karen Kingsbury Productions’ newest film, The Christmas Ring. Along with the new cast members, numerous names have been connected to the film, including director Tyler Russell (Someone Like You) and producer Natalie Ruffino Wilson (The Christmas Challenge).
The holiday romance joins Chloe Grace Möretz and Michelle Pfeiffer-led Oh. What. Fun. and Eva Longoria‘s Christmas Karma, as some of the first films scheduled to premiere this 2025 holiday season outside of Hallmark, of course. What is The Christmas Ring about?
The Christmas Ring follows the widow of a U.S. Armed Forces member, Vanessa Mayfield, who is searching for a lost family heirloom: her family’s Christmas ring. During her search, she meets a “charming antique dealer” named Ben Miller, who reveals that his father, Howard, may have unsuspectingly taken ownership of the ring. According to Deadline, “The story spans from the French countryside of World War II to current-day military town Columbus, Georgia.”

Who has been cast in The Christmas Ring?
Three major stars have already been cast in the lead roles of The Christmas Ring. Jana Kramer is set to play Vanessa Mayfield, the military widow at the heart of the story. Kramer is best known for portraying Alex Dupré in One Tree Hill.
On July 24, Deadline revealed that Virgin River star Benjamin Hollingsworth. This means that Daniel Brady is about to become Ben Miller — at least for the holiday season. Frasier star Kelsey Grammer has also joined the cast, likely as Ben Miller’s father, Howard.
Filming is now underway in Nashville. On July 24, Hollingsworth shared an Instagram Story video about his first day of production. “The people here in Nashville are so sweet. But the weather, it’s really really hot,” he admitted before asking fans to chime in about how to deal with the Tennessee heat.
When does The Christmas Ring premiere?
The Christmas Ring is set to premiere in theaters on Thursday, November 6, 2025. This comes roughly a year and a half after Karen Kingsbury Productions’ previous film, Someone Like You.
Is The Christmas Ring based on a book?
Yes, The Christmas Ring is based on a book by Karen Kingsbury, which is set to be published on October 26, 2025. According to Kingsbury, her upcoming novel is “a Christmas love story like those of days gone by.” She told Deadline, “I’ve always loved the Christmas classic movies – While You Were Sleeping and Miracle on 34th Street, Holiday and You’ve Got Mail. It’s time to give people an unforgettable Christmas love story in theaters. This is one they will want to watch every year.”
Kingsbury is best known for her books about the Baxter Family. Over the years, she’s released several series of books connected to the Baxters, and her work was adapted into Prime Video’s The Baxters, which aired for one season in 2024.
