All of the contestants go into Love Island USA looking for a relationship, but not all of them leave with one. Sometimes, the couples that enter the finale are the exception, like Season 6’s Serena Page and Kordell Beckham, and Leah Kateb and Miguel Harichi. Both pairings, who appear in the franchise’s Beyond the Villa spinoff, are still going strong about a year later.

Some, however, don’t last after the show ends. For one, Season 6’s JaNa Craig and Kenny Rodriguez recently split. The Season 6 cast drama has us wondering about the status of the Season 7 couples, particularly winners Amaya Espinal and Bryan Arenales. There has been some speculation about their relationship since the reunion episode aired, and days later, Amaya has revealed whether or not they’re still together. Read on for a full breakdown and timeline of their romance.

Are Amaya Espinal and Bryan Arenales still together?

Unfortunately, Amaya and Bryan have already called it quits on their relationship. It’s only been about a month since the finale episode, but it didn’t take any time for rumors to circulate that there was already trouble in paradise.

It started with fans suspecting that Bryan cheated on Amaya. On July 23, Bryan seemed to address the alleged infidelity in a TikTok video with his fellow Season 7 winner. “When everyone thinks you’re over meanwhile this is us,” Bryan captioned the video, which featured Amaya leaping into his arms. A few days later, Bryan also uploaded a TikTok video of himself video chatting with Amaya. “Getting back on routine. Just missing someone special,” he wrote in the caption.

Bryan and Amaya quelled the rumors even more when they went to the reunion, which was filmed on August 12, together. They confirmed then that they were still in a relationship.

However, the breakup gossip reared its head again when fans noticed that Amaya and Bryan unfollowed each other on Instagram on August 25. Days later, Amaya confirmed their split.

“Bryan and I are no longer together,” Amaya wrote on her Instagram Story on August 27. “After leaving the villa, it became very clear that we were on two different journeys. Our visions didn’t align and relationships are supposed to be a team sport. You don’t have to drink the whole sea to know it’s salty.”

She concluded her statement by wishing Bryan the best, signing off as Amaya Papaya.

What else have Amaya Espinal and Bryan Arenales said about their relationship after the show?

The former couple had nothing but positive things to say about each other in their post-show interviews. In a Hollywood Reporter Q&A that went up on July 21, Amaya described how Bryan makes her “feel so understood and seen.”

She also marked out her perfect day in the interview, which she followed up with: “And now I’m going to be able to share those moments with Bryan, which I’m super excited for because if those moments mean a lot to me, I’m sure it will mean a lot to him, too.”

A day later, Us Weekly posted an update on Amaya and Bryan’s relationship. “[Amaya and I] are exclusive and taking steps to [be boyfriend and girlfriend],” the latter explained. “We care deeply about each other and we don’t want to rush things. Her happiness is very important. My happiness is very important. We got the love that we got [from fans] because we’re letting things happen naturally instead of doing stuff for the public eye, and we’re gonna continue doing that.”

“This is all the start of it,” Amaya added. “You’ll definitely be seeing me and Bry Bry.”

Did Bryan Arenales cheat on Amaya Espinal?

The TikTok rumor mill ran wild after the show. Fans began speculating that Bryan was unfaithful to his Love Island USA partner when a woman alleged that she saw him at a Los Angeles club with someone else. Bryan seemed to address the claims in the aforementioned TikTok post.

Bryan gave fans clarity during the Season 7 reunion episode, which was filmed on August 12. “They’re trying to just throw any hate my way, and within the cheating video, the hosting — I got paid to be there,” Bryan explained. “I used to bartend back in the day. I had a lapse of judgment, and we’ve talked about it.”

Host Andy Cohen asked Bryan what exactly the “lapse in judgment” was, which made Amaya laugh. “Pouring shots around, giving the crowd shots and stuff like that,” Bryan said.

At that point, Amaya backed Bryan up. “I’m also, like, not a woman that would be with someone who doesn’t respect me,” she said. “So if I’m with him and still with him, it’s clearly because the relationship dynamic is healthy and great. We just prioritize our relationship, and we’re kind of tunnel vision with it. I’m very confident in our connection, and I feel like you are, too.”
