Are ‘Love Island USA’s Nic Vansteenberghe & Olandria Carthen Still Together?

Love Island USA may be over, but we’re still locked in about the couples. Unfortunately, the Season 7 couples have been splitting left and right. Since the reunion episode aired in late August, winners Amaya Espinal and Bryan Arenales have officially broken up, and a few days later, we learned that Pepe Garcia-Gonzalez and Iris Kendall had followed suit. Talk about a one-two punch.

But what about the others? We wanted to check in on some of the Season 7 couples, including Nic Vansteenberghe and Olandria Carthen. The duo didn’t end the show in an exclusive relationship, and when Swooon last caught up with them, the second-place couple were in a good place. Now that they’ve been out of the villa for a few weeks, has Nic and Olandria’s relationship status changed?

Nic and Olandria didn’t walk the VMAs red carpet together, but they did appear to reveal a major update about the status of their relationship just days before. Find out everything we know below about Nic and Olandria’s post-villa romance.

Are Nic and Olandria still together?

They are! When we chatted with the reality stars a few days after the finale episode, Olandria confirmed that they were making plans for the future. “So, the next step is to meet each other’s families to see what that feels like and just continue to progress from there,” she said. “I think that’ll be a big tell-all for us once we do that.”

Have Nic and Olandria labeled their relationship? Possibly. In a September 4 TikTok video, the couple participated in the “better be nice” social media trend, promoting the probiotic water brand Agua de Kefir. “My boyfriends gonna show you his favorite drink, and you better be nice,” Olandria says. (Naturally, fans immediately called out her word choice in the comments section.)

A couple of days later, the duo attended the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, though they didn’t walk the red carpet together. Nic stopped for an interview with Complex, who asked whether or not Olandria really meant it when she called Nic her boyfriend.

Nic left it in the hands of his Love Island USA partner: “She can confirm it when she comes down here in 20 minutes,” he said, smiling at the camera. “I can neither confirm nor deny.” (We haven’t been able to find a clip of Olandria addressing the matter herself, but we’re keeping an ear to the ground!)

What have Nic and Olandria said about their relationship after the show?

The couple opened up about their potential in an interview with Us Weekly, which was posted on July 22. “Our relationship is something that [Olandria and I] haven’t labeled yet,” Nic explained. “We’re just taking our time and investing in the real world and enjoying each other’s company.”

Olandria was also a guest on the July 22 episode of Keke Palmer‘s podcast, and they discussed how things have been going between her and Nic. “The conversation is still the same,” Olandria said. “We wanna continue to go at the pace we’re going. We had a conversation yesterday. I was like, ‘Bro I’m feeling a lot of pressure from the media. Ya know what I mean?’ [Nic] was like, ‘I think we should continue to go at the pace we’re going. It’s no reason for us to jump ship.'”

They echoed their earlier statements when they appeared during the reunion, which was filmed on August 12.

Where do Nic and Cierra stand?

Former contestant Cierra Ortega — who Nic was coupled up with for most of the show — has also broken her silence on Nic and Olandria’s relationship. “I come out thinking Nic and I are in this amazing place… we’re closed off and have these strong feelings for each other,” said Cierra, who was kicked off of the show in Episode 30.

“As I watched as a viewer as someone on the outside and saw their connection forming [after I left], I was like d**n it f**king hurts,” she continued in her July 27 TikTok video.

Cierra went on to say that she felt more hurt the longer she wasn’t contacted by Nic or Olandria, which made her “[feel] like [she] never existed.” “But two things can exist at once,” she added. “I can be sad for myself that I am mourning this relationship and all these things I thought were going to happen between us, and I can also be happy for two people I care about.”

When the topic came up at the reunion, Nic said he didn’t have plans to contact her. “Through her leaving the villa and then exploring Olandria, which is what Love Island’s about, I found this great connection, amazing connection with Olandria, and then she’s bashing me for that,” Nic explained on the This is Keke Palmer podcast a few days before the reunion aired.

He continued, “So to me, I was like, ‘All right. I’m going to take that on the chin. That’s fine if you feel that way, but I’m going to keep moving on.’”
