‘Building the Band’s Alison Ogden Reveals Why She & Conor Smith Split After Paris Trip

Alison Ogden and Conor Smith struck up a showmance on Season 1 of Building the Band , but later revealed that they aren’t still dating after the show. Although they took a trip to Paris together after filming ended last year, they eventually went their separate ways.
Now, Alison is giving more insight into the split and where she stands with her former fling.
She revealed that the two “talked more after” the Paris trip, but found that navigating a long-distance relationship proved to be too hard. “We’ve decided that it’s best just to be friends,” she told Betches. “He lives in Australia, I live in L.A. The time difference is huge, which can be a bit difficult to manage, but I mean, I want absolutely nothing but the best for him.”
The singer said the relationship surprised her because “it takes me quite a bit of time to be able to open up with guys and feel safe, fully connecting with them just because of relationship things I’ve dealt with in the past. But I felt so safe opening up to him and just really being me, and I felt like he really, really saw me. And I mean, he just was so kind to me and always so understanding.”

On the show, Alison formed a girl group called Sweet Seduction, while Conor joined forces with four other guys to create Midnight ‘Til Morning. Sweet Seduction finished in fifth place, while Midnight ‘Til Morning came in fourth. The guys have stayed together since filming ended, but Sweet Seduction is no longer working together as a band.
However, Alison is pursuing a solo music career and recently released a new single called “Sweet Surrender.” She’s keeping tight-lipped about whether Conor inspired the track, though. “I like to, while being authentic to myself, separate my artistry and my personal life,” she explained. “So, I felt like with ‘Sweet Surrender’ specifically, I wanted to be more the adult side of myself and embrace my sexual side and all of those kinds of things.”
