Michelle Williams Shares Rare Details About 4th Child & Life at Home

Not only is Michelle Williams on the Emmys campaign trail, but the actress is also busy with a new baby.
During an August 18 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Williams opened up about her home life to guest host Tiffany Haddish. The latter complimented the Dawson’s Creek alum’s figure, saying “your body looks amazing because I never would’ve thought you had any [kids].”
Williams confirmed that she now has three children under 5 years old at home — in addition to the 19-year-old daughter she shared with the late Heath Ledger — but she shouted out her surrogate for carrying her youngest.
“Then I’ve got to give a big shout out to Christine, ’cause this last baby did not come through my body,” Williams said. “But the miracle of our little girl is thanks to Christine. Maybe you’re watching out there. Thank you, Christine.”
In April, People reported that Williams and her husband, Hamilton director Thomas Kail, added to their family earlier this year. “Everything’s good and under control. I’m the adult,” the actress said.
Williams, who recently starred in and produced Dying for Sex, also described how she’s balancing her work and her personal life. “I hear a lot of people are talking about self-care, and I’m just wondering when,” she said. “Because I’m a working mom, I already have the guilt, and I don’t want to take more time away from them, but I understand, I need to fill up the tank.”
The actress thinks she’s found the key to making time for herself: “Visiting our fine local establishments of government bureaucracy.” “You say, ‘I’m sorry, honey, but one day you’re going to grow up, and you’re going to get a job,'” she explained. “‘And you’re going to pay taxes, and you’re going to need a social security number for that.'”
Williams advises making a midday appointment, which means the wait will be longer. Then comes the best part: “You can claim your rightful place at the back of the line where they will let you wait in complete silence for at least one hour,” she said. “There is free seating for all. It’s like … Bring like a nail file and, like, a to-do list and, like, check, check, check. You know what I mean?”
When her turn arrives, she also enjoys having “an adult conversation” with the employee at the window. “If you want a pro hack tip, don’t double check your paperwork because you might have to go back,” Williams joked. “I’ve got it all figured out.”
