‘DWTS’ Judge Derek Hough Gives New Update Amid Wife Hayley Erbert’s Pregnancy

Derek Hough will be going from the ballroom to the nursery! The Dancing With the Stars judge and his wife, Hayley Erbert, are expecting their first child together in 2026.

Hough will be juggling Dancing With the Stars Season 34 and preparing for his child’s arrival. During his September 3 appearance on LIVE with Kelly and Mark, Hough gave an update about how Erbert’s pregnancy is going and how he feels about impending parenthood.

“It’s the most incredible feeling already,” Hough gushed. The 40-year-old has loved watching Erbert’s pregnancy journey, but he’s excited for their baby to be here. “I can’t wait for my heart to be cracked open,” he said.

Hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos brought up Hough and Erbert’s gender reveal video, which they posted in black and white so as not to give away whether they’re having a boy or a girl. Hough said they’re keeping “that one to ourselves” for now. However, Hough noted that Erbert needed to find out if baby Hough is a boy or a girl because she has a “type A” personality and needed to plan out the nursery.

The couple announced they were expecting in July 2025. “We can’t believe the biggest thing to happen to us could be so small,” they captioned a joint Instagram video.

Hough and Erbert are thrilled about this new chapter after persevering through a difficult time in their relationship. In December 2023, Erbert was hospitalized in Washington D.C. with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel. The dancer had to have an emergency craniectomy, followed by skull surgery. She has since made a full recovery.
