There’s a reason one of the contestants on Season 2 of The Golden Bachelor looks familiar. On Thursday, September 4, ABC announced the 23 women who will be hoping to win Mel Owens‘ heart on the next installment of the dating show, and one of them has a connection to the franchise.

Andra’s twin sister is Sandra Mason, who made it all the way to Week 5 on Season 1 of The Golden Bachelor. She was one of Gerry’s Top 6 women and was eliminated alongside Susan Noles and Ellen Goltzer (only three women moved onto the Fantasy Suites from there).

In January 2025, Sandra hard-launched her relationship with The Golden Bachelorette Season 1 contestant Charles King. However, they have not posted any recent photos together. It’s unclear if they’re still dating.

Andra is 77 years old, which makes her 11 years older than Mel. Of course, this falls outside of the age range that Mel requested when he first signed on to be the lead. During a podcast interview in June, Mel said he wanted the women cast on his season to be between the ages of 45 and 60 (to clarify, he is 66).
The comment sparked major backlash, and Mel spoke out about the controversy in an August interview with Glamour. He confirmed that he apologized to the women on the first night of filming, adding, “I’m thinking, to me, the age range was 45 to 60. That’s my age range. I’m thinking that’s the gold years for me.”
He also explained that it had been “26, 27, years” since he’d dated, so his last reference of going on dates was when he was in his late 30s and early 40s. “It was unfair, insensitive. I want to earn it back. Just give me the chance,” he said he told the women.

Andra is retired after working for the federal government. She now “strives to make a difference in the world around her,” according to her Golden Bachelor bio. Her hobbies include going to the gym and going out to dinner with friends. She earned her master’s degree at 61 years old.
