Is ‘A Thousand Tomorrows’ Returning for Season 2 After Netflix Surge? Author Weighs In

You aren’t alone if you’re only just now catching up on Karen Kingsbury‘s A Thousand Tomorrows. The rodeo romance show came out on faith-focused streaming service PureFlix in 2023, but it got a second wind after arriving on Netflix earlier this month.
The series follows Kingsbury’s book of the same name. Cody (Colin Ford) is a hotshot bull rider who’s angry at the world. When he crosses paths with Ali Daniels (Rose Reid), his walls slowly come down, and they embark on a life-changing romance and even get married. Sadly, it has a deadline: Ali has cystic fibrosis, and her love for barrel racing makes her condition worse. Ali ultimately dies of pneumonia after living life on her own terms.
So, what does that mean for a potential Season 2 now that only one half of the couple remains? Fortunately, Cody’s journey continues in two other books. Since her book’s adaptation started climbing the Netflix charts, Kingsbury has revealed what she knows of the show’s future.

Will there be A Thousand Tomorrows Season 2?
“Nothing to announce yet…,” the author wrote Instagram, addressing a potential Season 2, “but my heart is filled at the possibility! 🥹❤️🤠” In a separate Instagram post, she clarified, “Setting the record straight: I actually never confirmed a Season 2 of A THOUSAND TOMORROWS … but … there is another book in the series. 📚 And now you’ve made Season 1 TOP 5 on @netflix! So, would you like to see a SEASON 2 of A Thousand Tomorrows?”
Back when the show first dropped, Kingsbury told Movie Guide that A Thousand Tomorrows’ sequel, Just Beyond the Clouds, “has enough story material for two seasons.”
She continued, “We’ve already outlined [Season 2]. We’re kind of anticipating with the success [of A Thousand Tomorrows] that…we’ll get to do more with it.” Since the show debuted in 2023, PureFlix hasn’t given the go-ahead for more episodes, though maybe the show’s recent popularity on Netflix will prompt an update.
What would A Thousand Tomorrows Season 2 be about?
Just Beyond the Clouds sees Cody still grappling with the loss of Ali. It makes it difficult to let go of his brother, Carl Joseph, who has Down syndrome, even though he’s ready for more independence. Cody finds himself clashing with his brother’s teacher over the issue, but there’s an undeniable spark between them. Is romance still in the cards for the world-weary rodeo champ?
