Before Taylor Frankie Paul was cast as the lead for Season 22 of The Bachelorette, she was in an on-and-off relationship with Dakota Mortensen, with whom she shares one child, for nearly three years. She admittedly continued to hook up with Mortensen after their split, which he has now weighed in on following news of his ex’s Bachelorette casting.

On the Wednesday, September 10, episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, host Alex Cooper asked Paul about the last time she hooked up with Mortensen. Paul claimed not to remember, but Cooper questioned whether it was at Stagecoach, which took place at the end of April.

“Oh, yeah. That might have been … maybe one after,” Paul replied. The clip was posted on the Call Her Daddy TikTok page and Mortensen commented, “1 or 2 times….Got it lol.”

Mortensen also wrote on his Instagram Story, “Had so many curve balls today and everytime I am always reminded there is nothing more important than God and family. Life is so short.” However, his previous slide was about the death of Charlie Kirk, which he could have also been referring to in the message.

During her Call Her Daddy interview, Paul admitted that she had not “confirmed” news of her Bachelorette casting with Mortensen. “I don’t know if he knows or if he knew I had the opportunity,” she said. “So he’ll know [when this comes out].”

She added that she thought Mortensen would be “sad” over her decision. “He does know that I was dating and, you know, meeting people, so that we’ve already had that first hurt, I guess,” she added. “I think that’s the hardest part is when you see their first dating or hookup or whatever it is. That’s gonna always take a toll no matter what.”

Season 2 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives documented trouble in Paul and Mortensen’s relationship after she found out that he had been lying to her and had possibly been unfaithful.

“I found out a lot of things that were not being told the truth this entire time,” Paul said on an episode of the Hulu show. “He made it seem like [the other woman, Jenna] was the one that was always instigating and begging. No, it was him.”
