Will ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Have an Episode 12? Breaking Down the Finale Theory
The end is nigh, The Summer I Turned Pretty fans, and we have no idea how the story is going to wrap up in a single episode… or could it be that showrunner Jenny Han has one last surprise up her sleeve?
Belly (Lola Tung) is still hanging around Paris, and Conrad (Christopher Briney) is about to drop in unannounced. We have no idea how long that reunion will take — as Bonrad shippers, we hope they take their time. How long will it take for Belly to break things off with Benito? Plus, when (and how) will Belly get back to Cousins Beach? Will she finally pick one of the Fisher brothers once and for all, or choose herself?
It seems impossible that all of these questions will be answered in the September 17 finale, even if it runs over an hour. Some fans, however, think they won’t be. Instead of ending on Episode 11, there’s a theory going around that The Summer I Turned Pretty will conclude with a two-episode drop, giving us the secret Episode 12.
Keep in mind, there’s no official confirmation from Han or Prime Video that that will be the case, but fans have found what they think are clues hinting that the finale will be a two-parter. The first piece of “evidence” is the Season 3 episode schedule that The Summer I Turned Pretty Instagram account posted on their Instagram Story a while back. It lists the dates of Episodes 1 through 10, but next to September 17, it simply says “finale.”

More recently, fans spotted an August 31 article that referred to Season 3 having 12 episodes in The Guardian. It easily could’ve been a typo, since journalists weren’t given the Season 3 episodes in advance of the show’s premiere, but who’s to say?
Some viewers took things a step further and think Han may have placed an Easter egg in Episode 10, hinting that Season 3 would have an extra episode. In the background of Belly’s new apartment, a box has “A12” printed on the side. Cardboard boxes being labeled as such isn’t unheard of, so it could easily be nothing — or is it a Taylor Swift reference?

The Summer I Turned Pretty is known for its incorporation of Swift’s songs, so fans think that Han might be pulling a move out of the singer’s playbook. In October 2024, Swift posted a clip of herself walking around Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium ahead of her Eras Tour show. In the background of the Instagram video, there’s a sign designating a section as “A12.” Lo and behold, Swift announced her next album, The Life of a Showgirl, on August 12 the following year.
We hate to rain on anyone’s parade, but The Summer I Turned Pretty shot its Paris episodes in October 2024, so it’s probably just… a box. Still, we aren’t completely ruling out the possibility of Episode 12. What do you think of the theory? Let us know in the comments below!
