Grab your golden gobs, Love Is Blind fans, because Season 9 is here. This time around, the pods were filled with a new batch of singles from Denver, Colorado. Thirty-two people joined the experiment, hoping to find a lasting connection rooted in emotional rather than physical compatibility.

One of them was Madison Maidenberg, who told her fellow female participants and hostsNick and Vanessa Lachey, that Love Is Blind “simulates what her life can be like when she loses her vision.” Minutes into the first episode, Madison explained that she knows what she needs in a partner with her diagnosis.

Get to know Madison and learn more about her eye condition, her Love Is Blind partner, and more below.

What does Madison do for a living?

Madison is a 28-year-old UX/UI designer based in Denver. According to her bio, the Colorado native graduated from high school at the age of 16, and a successful career followed. She bought her first home at 26.

As for why she went on the show, Madison told the outlet that she went on 40 first dates last year but didn’t find love, so she wanted to take her search to the pods. She was after “a man with gentle energy, good banter, and last, but not least, thick thighs.”

What is Madison’s eye condition?

During one of Madison’s chats with Joe Ferrucci, they reflected on the fact that they couldn’t find anything wrong with each other. Immediately afterward, Madison said she did have one thing she wanted to share with him: Her eyes are currently functional, but she has a rare eye condition called retinitis pigmentosa, which she was diagnosed with at 21. She has difficulty seeing in low light and spotting things in her peripheral vision.

“It’s important to know that there is a possibility that my eyesight could get worse,” she told Joe. “It can lead to blindness.”

When Joe asked if blindness was a sure thing, Madison said that it depends on the person. Afterward, Joe said that for someone he loved, he would help take care of that person. “That doesn’t change the way I feel right now about you,” he assured her.

Madison, who is president of Colorado’s Foundation Fighting Blindness, told Tudum, “Love is blind and I might be, too, so I need to find someone that can stimulate my brain outside of physicality.”

Who did Madison end up with on Love Is Blind Season 9?

Madison got engaged to Joe in Episode 3. To celebrate their engagement, Madison and Joe joined the rest of the Season 9 couples on vacation in Mexico. That’s where we last saw them in Episode 6, and there seemed to be trouble in paradise. Joe got drunk at a pool party before falling asleep in their hotel room.

When Madison checked in on him later that night, Joe repeated the same questions over and over. He dismissed Madison’s concerns about his well-being, and she was driven to tears. In an exclusive interview with Swooon, Madison revealed, “It was very confusing. I didn’t understand who this person was and what was going on with him. I felt really disappointed. I felt like, this is how you’re choosing to have this experience and have today end up?”

We’ll have to wait a few days to see how (or if) they move past the incident. What did you think of Madison and Joe in the first six episodes? Let us know in the comments below!
