Is Jen Affleck’s Husband Zac a Doctor? Inside His Med School Journey
As Jennifer Affleck continues her quest for the Mirrorball trophy on Dancing With the Stars, she has husband Zac Affleck in her corner. Considering the couple just welcomed their third child over the summer, there’s a lot going on at home, and Jen has been busy logging several hours a day in the studio rehearsing, so it’s been imperative that she has Zac’s support.
Fans first got to meet the couple on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives in 2024, and one of the issues that plagued them in the early days of the show involved Zac’s career. At the time, he was looking into attending medical school.
So, is Zac actually a doctor? Scroll down for everything we know.
Is Zac Affleck a doctor?
No, Zac is not a doctor, and he did not finish medical school. In July 2024, Jen revealed that her husband had graduated from Brigham Young University and was planning to attend med school.
“Zac graduated and got accepted into medical school!🎓” she wrote. “It’s been a long and challenging journey with two little ones, but we did it! I couldn’t be prouder of you and all the hard work you’ve put in. Excited for this new adventure that awaits!”

He was accepted into one of his “dream schools” in New York. “Medical schools are super hard on marriages, so it makes me question if going to medical school is worth it,” Jen admitted on a Mormon Wives episode. “It’s hard because I am the provider, and if we are going to do medical school and these hard things in life, we do need to be on the same page, especially if we end up moving to New York, where I wouldn’t even have the MomTok group.”
Although Zac did briefly go to med school in New York, he eventually transferred to a school in Arizona. In Season 2 of Mormon Wives, which aired in 2025, he shared that he had put in an application to leave medical school amid his marital issues with Jen. They have since reconciled.
What is Zac Affleck’s job?
For now, Zac is focusing on his marriage to Jen, rather than his career.
“I feel like a lot of our marriage I made about me and what I want to do,” he admitted to Jen on the show. “I don’t know what I am going to do with my life, to be honest. I am here to support you and support your career.”
Currently, Jen is living out her dreams as a contestant on DWTS. She’ll also return on Season 3 of Mormon Wives in November.
