‘Haul Out the Halloween’s Lacey Chabert & Our Fave ‘Halloweentown’ Couple Talk Spooky Reunion (VIDEO)

Evergreen Lane is turning into Everscream Lane in Haul Out the Halloween. The Haul Out universe is celebrating all things Halloween in the new Hallmark movie, premiering on October 11.

Haul Out the Halloween isn’t just any Halloween movie. This marks an onscreen reunion between Lacey Chabert and longtime friend Kimberly J. Brown, who appeared together in Crossword Mysteries: Proposing Murder, but Brown is also starring alongside her real-life husband, Daniel Kountz. The married couple met on the set of Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge more than 20 years ago. Swooon spoke with Chabert, Brown, and Kountz about this magical movie reunion.

“We could have never imagined that this holiday and the work would not only bring us together, but continue to be something that enriches our lives so much,” Brown told Swooon. The actress also noted that she and Kountz, as Marnie and Kal in the Halloweentown sequel, were enemies, so it was “nice to be on the same side” this time.

The couple admitted that they go into Halloween mode at home “pretty much right after July 4.” Kountz said on “July 5 I’m getting all the Halloween boxes from the garage.” But what about the Queen of Christmas? “I mean, I’m not going to lie, Christmas is my #1 holiday, so Halloween, it doesn’t get as much attention,” Chabert said.

She added, “We have a couple signs we hang on the front door. My daughter decorates her room. She’s obsessed with pumpkins and things, so that’s really fun. We go trick or treating. She usually has multiple costume changes because she can’t make up her mind which one she wants to be.”

Brown and Kountz play a new couple, Marvin and Luna, who moves to Evergreen Lane, but we had to know if Haul Out the Halloween will have nods to Halloweentown. “As someone who’s obviously leaned into the witch character of the Cromwell line in Halloweentown throughout the years, it was so fun to lean into Luna and Marvin’s love of spookiness, which kind of transcends the entire year,” Brown shared.

She revealed that there are “subtle winks” to the beloved Halloweentown franchise, and there are “little spots where I tried to pay homage not only to, to Halloweentown, but for me personally, to Debbie Reynolds… She definitely inspired some of Luna’s magicalness.”
