- Dylan honored his little sister, Olivia, on Dedication Night earlier this season.
- Zac and Dylan’s parents divorced in 2016.
The entire Efron family has made it to the ballroom! During the November 18 episode of Dancing With the Stars, Dylan Efron‘s older brother, Zac Efron, made his first appearance of the season to show his support. Zac might have been his little brother’s lucky charm because Dylan is one of the five finalists competing in the Season 34 finale, airing November 25.
Family has been a core part of Dylan’s journey on DWTS. Earlier in the season, Dylan honored his sister on Dedication Night. Little Olivia joined Dylan for a special dance to “Rewrite the Stars” from The Greatest Showman. Zac sang “Rewrite the Stars” with Zendaya in the 2017 musical film.
Many members of Dylan’s family have been in the audience week after week to cheer on The Traitors winner and his pro partner, Daniella Karagach. Scroll down to get all the updates on Dylan’s family.
Are Dylan and Zac Efron full brothers?
Yes, Dylan and Zac Efron were both born to the same parents, David Efron and Starla Baskett. Zac is the first born, arriving in October 1987, followed by Dylan in February 1992.
Dylan and Zac have a close relationship and have worked together in the past. Dylan served as a producer on Zac’s series Down to Earth With Zac Efron, where he popped in front of the camera, as well. The brothers have also documented their love of outdoor activities in a segment on Zac’s YouTube channel over the years.
“Once I graduated college, Zac really took me under his wing and let me live with him when I got my first job in Los Angeles,” Dylan previously told BroBible. “He really became that older brother, and that’s when I would say we grew closer than ever. Our relationship was something that developed more as we both became adults and stopped fighting so much.”
Zac opened up about the pair’s former living situation on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2017, adding, “I mean most of the time [he is a good roommate]. He’s my little brother. He looks after the house while I’m gone. We’re cool like that. I trust him, he’s a good dude. I trust him with the house. I came home [recently], and it was very clear that the cleaning lady had been there just minutes before I arrived.”
Who are Dylan Efron’s younger siblings?
Dylan and Zac’s younger siblings, Olivia and Henry, are from their father’s second marriage. Olivia was born in December 2019, followed by Henry at some point after that (his exact birthday is unknown).

In a June 2023 post shared by Zac, Henry already appeared to be a toddler, so he likely wasn’t born too long after his big sister. Both Dylan and Zac often share content with their much-younger siblings on social media.
Dylan said on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast in March that he lives about a three-hour drive from his younger siblings, but he tries to see them as much as he can. Prior to his busy 2025, he was getting out to see Henry and Olivia “at least twice a month.”
“I see them more, so I like to take that crown [of being the favorite] probably,” Dylan said. “But everybody loves Zac.”

Dylan compared the younger siblings to himself and his brother, adding, “Henry is me. He is me to a T. Like, not as smart as Olivia. It’s literally watching me and Zac grow up. Olivia’s outgoing, so smart, and that was Zac. Henry is me to a T, like he just runs around, falls, gets up. He hits his head and will have a huge mark, and he just laughs.”
Who are Dylan Efron’s parents?
Dylan’s parents, David and Starla, met when they were both working at the same power plant. They got married and welcomed their two boys before divorcing in 2016.
After the divorce, David went on to marry his second wife, Jenny, with whom he shares Olivia and Henry.

For the most part, David and Starla are very private about their personal lives. However, they did both come together to support Zac when he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2023.
“My mom and dad, they’re the reason I’m here today,” Zac said at the time. “They believed in me when I don’t know how they did. It must’ve been difficult to drive me back and forth to auditions when I was 15, three hours from the Arroyo Grande out here, just to have such a small shot. They believed in me, and they stuck with me, by my side, through all of it. And I think they sacrificed a lot to support me throughout the years. So to have them here and to both be here in person is … it makes me emotional, man. It’s very special. It means the world to me.”
Does Dylan Efron have kids?
No, Dylan does not have kids, but he did reveal on Not Skinny But Not Fat that people often mistake Olivia for his daughter when they spend time together. Getting to bond with her, he said, has made him want a baby girl of his own one day. (He’s currently dating Courtney King, whom he met in high school.)

“I don’t know how to describe it,” he admitted. “But, yeah, it’s definitely opened my eyes to being a girl dad too. I was that kid that wanted to play sports and wanted to teach my kid how to play baseball and all that stuff. But seeing Olivia grow up, I was like, ‘Oh, I could have a girl.'”
