‘Love Is Blind’: What Is House Numerology? All About ‘Sparkle’ Megan’s House-Hunting Trick
Love Is Blind gave fans quite a few talking points just ahead of the finale, especially with Episode 11’s cliffhanger ending. After a relatively smooth journey, Megan Walerius and Jordan Keltner had their most explosive argument yet. Even though the outcome of their spat is the most pressing thing on our mind, we’re also hung up on the house-hunting trick Megan described earlier in the episode.
By Episode 11, the couple hadn’t yet decided on a home. The topic came up while they were on a hat-making date, Megan having just viewed an option beforehand. “I feel like we’ll know when we see the right house,” Jordan said. “Not into the woo-woo s**t. There’s definitely levels, but I feel like we’ll see a house, and I feel like I’ll be there when it happens.”
Megan, it turns out, is into “the woo-woo s**t. ” She told Jordan that home numerology is something she considers when deciding on a home. We were just as confused as Jordan was, so you’ve come to the right place if you’re in the same boat. Keep reading for the full breakdown of “Sparkle” Megan’s house hack.
What is house numerology?
First, let’s dive into Megan’s explanation. “OK, so you add up all of the numbers of your address,” she began. “So, My L.A. home is 124, so that’s one plus two plus four is seven, and a seven home is all about inward, spiritual, finding yourself, all these things, which has been very accurate for that home.”
While Jordan squinted his eyes dubiously, Megan described her Denver home, which had an 863 address, totaling 17. Since you have to reduce to a single digit, you add one plus seven together. Those numbers add up to eight, which she said is all about “abundance.” She added, “And that’s where I made all my money.”
Jordan wondered whether house numerology was going to make or break a house for her. While Megan did say “no,” she confirmed that it would factor into her decision. Megan wanted a “six” home, aka a family home and a gathering place.
Naturally, we started doing some research immediately after finishing the episode. Numerology is essentially number symbolism, using them to make sense of life. According to Discovery UK, “Western numerology traditions are popularly linked to the legacy of the Greek philosopher Pythagoras, who lived in the sixth century BC, although the historical evidence for his involvement in such practices is limited.”
Modern-day numerologist Felicia Bender wrote a blog post about house numerology specifically. “In Numerology, every address carries with it a vibrational matrix that becomes the home’s ‘personality,'” she explained. “When you know the personality of your house (or potential home) you can understand if you’re a good match or not. It’s almost like dating – you want a partner (your home, where you spend a good deal of time) to be supportive and in alignment with your goals and energies, right?”
Well, that sure is fitting for Love Is Blind. Bender’s explanation of how to calculate your home’s number is the same as Megan’s, though she adds that if you live in an apartment, your most influential number is your unit number rather than your building’s. She also gives a breakdown of what each number means. You can read all about those here if you want the full rundown. Long story short, at least according to Bender’s explanations, Megan was spot-on.
What do you think about house numerology? Do you think Megan and Jordan will find their “six” home before their wedding day — if they make it down the aisle at all, that is? Tell us in the comments below!
