Jennifer Lopez Reveals She Was Rejected by ‘Prominent’ Mystery Man
Jennifer Lopez has had many high-profile romances over the years with Marc Anthony, Ben Affleck, Alex Rodriguez, and more. While those relationships have dominated headlines, J.Lo has been tight-lipped about a rejection she experienced — until now.
In a candid interview with Howard Stern, the Shotgun Wedding star opened up about a time she was interested in someone, but this mystery man essentially turned her down. Stern asked Lopez if there was a time in her life when she wanted to be in a relationship with someone but couldn’t get them.
“There was one guy that I was like, had my eye on, and I kind of like, threw it out there and he didn’t pick it up. And I was just like, oh, OK,” Lopez revealed on Sirius XM’s The Howard Stern Show.
The actress refused to say the man’s name, but she said this rejection was “not too long ago. Like 10 years ago, maybe.” If her timeline is correct, this happened in 2015 or 2016, between her breakup with Casper Smart and the beginning of her relationship with A-Rod. Lopez confirmed that the mystery man was a “prominent” person.
The Kiss of the Spider Woman star admitted that she put out signals to the man about being interested in him, but he “didn’t respond back.” Ultimately, she didn’t sweat the rejection. “I just kind of moved on and thought, OK, not for me,” she said.
While Stern was stunned by the story, the “Let’s Get Loud” singer didn’t want any hate directed at the mystery man. “Maybe he didn’t pick up the signal. I was very subtle. Maybe they didn’t pick up the signal,” she told Stern.
During the lengthy conversation, Lopez confessed that she didn’t think she’d ever truly been loved. “What I learned, it’s not that I’m not lovable. It’s that they’re not capable,” Lopez said of her exes. “They don’t have it in them. They need to appreciate the little person inside of them. They need to love them.”
Lopez acknowledged that her exes “gave me what they had. They gave me all of it every time,” but “they didn’t” love her. “And I didn’t love myself,” she added.
