‘Reminders of Him’: Everything We Know About Colleen Hoover’s Next Romance Adaptation

Did somebody say second chance romance? Romance titan Colleen Hoover is back at it again with Reminders of Him, an angsty romantic drama based on her 2022 novel of the same name.

Maika Monroe stars as Kenna, a troubled young woman trying to put her life back together after a tragic accident. I Know What You Did Last Summer star Tyriq Withers plays the love interest, Ledger Ward, who sees the good in her, but they know that their secret relationship might end in heartbreak.

Withers has already teased the movie’s emotional intensity. “One of the first rehearsals, we were both sitting there crying with each other as we were doing some exercises. Immediately, I got this feeling of wanting to protect her through the process of making this movie, and how best can I support her through this?” he told People. “Because we’re all carrying our own weight, our own grief, our own loss as human beings when we’re telling these stories.”

Now that the first Reminders of Him trailer is here, what else has been revealed so far about the adaptation? Who is Outer Banks star Rudy Pankow playing? Keep reading for the full cast list, release date, plot summary, and more.

When is Reminders of Him coming out?

Reminders of Him arrives in theaters on March 13, which puts only five months between its theatrical release and that of Hoover’s other adaptation, Regretting You.

Who is in the Reminders of Him cast?

Zoe Kosovic will play Diem, Kenna’s daughter. Kosovic recently had a role in The Smashing Machine. Who is making Reminders of Him?

Reminders of Him has an all-female filmmaking team backing it, including director Vanessa Caswill. She helmed the Haley Lu Richardson rom-com Love at First Sight and the 2017 Little Women miniseries.

The screenplay comes from Hoover and Lauren Levine, who is also working on the author’s Verity adaptation. Hoover, who served as an executive producer on It Ends with Us and Regretting You, produced alongside Levine and Gina Matthews (13 Going on 30). Robin Mulcahy Fisichell is the movie’s executive producer.

Hoover told People that the film is “faithful to the story’s core,” adding, “the pain, the hope, the forgiveness — it’s all there, but seeing it unfold onscreen makes it feel even more powerful. As the author of the book, there’s something magical about hearing the dialogue and being able to see those small, quiet moments between characters play out. And you want the readers to feel that magic, which I’m confident they will.”

Is there a Reminders of Him trailer?

“There was before you and there was during you. For some reason, I never thought there would be an after you,” Kenna says in the trailer, which you can watch at the top of the page. If you’ve read the book, you know those words are straight from Hoover’s novel!

What is Reminders of Him about?

Dealing with themes of motherhood, forgiveness, and the power of love, Reminders of Him finds Kenna returning to her Wyoming hometown after causing the car crash that killed her boyfriend (Pankow). After seven years behind bars, she’s hoping to rebuild her life and reunite with her daughter, Diem, who doesn’t know her. Diem’s grandparents refuse to let that happen, but she finds compassion from former NFL player and local bar owner Ledger (Withers).
