What To Know

  • Sonequa Martin-Green’s husband, Kenric Green, made his debut as chief of staff to the Boston District Attorney, a.k.a. Lena’s mother, Mae, in the second episode of Boston Blue.
  • Martin-Green teased the possibility of an onscreen romance between her character, Detective Lena Silver, and Charlie, with their first scene together set for later this season.
  • The show also features Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) officially transferring to Boston and partnering with Lena, while his son Sean starts as a rookie cop alongside Lena’s brother Jonah.

Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) and Baez (Marisa Ramirez) from Blue Bloods are finally a couple, thanks to Boston Blue. But another couple emerged in the spinoff’s second episode — an offscreen couple, that is. Kenric Green, husband of Sonequa Martin-Green, made his Boston Blue debut in the Friday, October 24, episode. Martin-Green spoke with Swooon about what it was like to work with him on the series and teased the chances of their characters getting together.

Green plays Charlie Price, Boston District Attorney Mae Silver’s (Gloria Reuben) chief of staff. Martin-Green plays Detective Lena Silver, Mae’s daughter, and she told us, “He and I joke that we’re going to try and get these two together.”

Lena and Charlie will have their first scene together in Boston Blue Season 1 Episode 8, Martin-Green confirmed. They already filmed the episode, and the Star Trek alum says that she and her husband were jokingly shipping their characters on set.

“We had our first scene together. Kenric joked that he would, when Lena exits, he’d be like, ‘I love you so much!’ And then be like, ‘Whoa, I don’t know what got into me,'” she shared. But the chances of a romance between the detective and the chief of staff are serious.

“Without spoiling anything, I think that love interests are on the table for both of them,” Martin-Green revealed.

Boston Blue Episode 2 showed Danny officially committing to his transfer to Boston, where he’ll now be Lena’s partner at work. His son, Sean Reagan (Mika Amonsen), has recovered from the coma he fell into from an injury in the series premiere and is now beginning his career as a rookie cop in the Boston Police Department. His closest friend on the job is Lena’s little brother, Jonah (Marcus Scribner), who’s also a rookie officer.

Danny assured that he and Maria would make the long-distance relationship work, and that “the family understands” why the loyal New Yorker had to move to Boston.
