Hallmark’s top-notch reality competition, the gift that keeps on giving, was giving “Gingerbread Realness” last week. There was an edible-house battle amongst the hunks, as well as a Star Quality challenge, complete with network icon Alison Sweeney and some horsey guest stars.

Unfortunately, another one of the show’s chiseled hopefuls was sent off into the sunset by the episode’s end.

Ironically, “I actually came in with the highest confidence that I thought I could have,” says Week 3’s eliminee, Logan Shephard, of saddling up to shoot a flirty scene on horseback with Sweeney. “I think that kind of got in my head a little bit. Then, working with live animals, it’s always going to be different. There’s always going to be some kind of struggle, and I think that it was that, just as soon as one little thing went wrong, I think it started to get at me.”

Admitting on camera that his scene “was a mess,” Shepard now recalls with dread the moments he was placed in the bottom two (with Craig Geoghan) by Sweeney, host Jonathan Bennett, and head judge Melissa Peterman. “It’s terrifying. I just remember my knees locking up, and you’re like, the last thing you want to do is hear your name, and yeah, it’s not fun.”

Making it tougher, he continues, was the fact that the cast had formed a true bond by this point in the production. This explains why he was so emotional after hearing his name called. “I think it was having to say goodbye to so many friends that you make so quickly,” the Dayton, Ohio, native admits. “There’s a lot of pressure that comes with this, so you’re putting a lot on the line and [when you’re eliminated], it’s as if a weight maybe has been lifted…but it’s also like, ‘I’m not going to get to do this anymore and it really sucks.'”

Now, the self-proclaimed nerd whose take on Santa had a Harry Potter twist is busy with a few other endeavors, including planning his dream wedding in Scotland and launching Seasgair, a line of caps, gloves, and scarves inspired by his love of knitting. “I’m still working on my website, and I guess the inventory as well, but that is extremely exciting, and I work almost every single day at it,” he tells Swooon.

Cozy gear, a romance-soaked destination wedding, and a face like that…could this guy be any more Hallmark? Apparently so. When asked what makes him swoon, Shephard’s reply made us weak in the knees!

“Just being able to be at home and with my fiancée or the person that you love and family. I think that means the most to me in my everyday life.”
