What To Know

  • Gia Giudice was one of two winners on Season 4 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.
  • She opened up to Swooon about how her boyfriend, Christian Carmichael, reacted to the news that she won.
  • She also revealed what he was most worried about when she left to film and how he was able to get updates on her progress.

The Season 4 finale of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test revealed Gia Giudice and Shawn Johnson as the winners on Thursday, November 20. Gia began the course alongside her mom, Teresa Giudice, but was left to fend for herself after Teresa voluntarily withdrew on Day 2.

Back at home, Gia’s longtime boyfriend, Christian Carmichael, whom she’s been dating since 2020, was cheering her on. In an exclusive interview, she opened up to Swooon about how he was able to keep tabs on her, how he reacted to her win, and more.

“He was so excited,” Gia confirmed. “He cried before I left. We both did. I think his biggest fear was me getting hurt, obviously, because you really could. You don’t know what’s going to happen.”

However, Gia revealed that contestants’ loved ones were “able to have a producer’s number,” so Christian was in contact with someone from the show throughout the 10-day course. “It was very vague updates,” she explained. “Just like, ‘She’s OK, she did great. All good.'”

Some of the cast members who were disqualified, medically withdrawn, or voluntarily withdrawn also called Teresa with updates once they got their phones back. “Just to let her know I was doing OK,” Gia explained. “So I think by the time Ravi [Patel] and Nick [Young] left [in Episode 5], my mom and [Christian] had a really good feeling. Like, she’s going to make it to the end.”

Once Christian learned that Gia passed the course, he was “so proud” of her, she blushed. “I think he realizes how his girlfriend is pretty badass,” she said, and jokingly added, “He better watch out!”

Gia and Christian met during summer 2019 when they crossed paths at the Jersey Shore. They started dating in January 2020, and aside from a brief split during Gia’s junior year of college, have been together ever since.

The Next Gen NYC star recently moved into a new apartment in Jersey City, but she is not living with her boyfriend just yet. They’ll both return for Season 2 of the Bravo show, which she confirmed is currently filming.

“It’s just more of me coming into my own,” Gia explained. “You guys are going to see me move into my apartment in Jersey City and just really where I’m at right now following that journey, which is really fun. After Special Forces and moving into my place, I’m the happiest I’ve ever been, I think, in my life.”
