Who Is ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Pro Witney Carson’s Husband? A Guide to Her Family
Witney Carson is in the running to take home the Mirrorball trophy on Season 34 of Dancing With the Stars with pro partner Robert Irwin. Throughout her run on the show, she’s had the support of her husband, Carson McAllister, whom she married on New Year’s Day 2016.
“My husband sacrifices a lot,” Carson told Swooon. “My husband sacrifices his career so he can support me working full-time. It’s a 24-hour job. … Luckily, my husband has been incredible.”

How did Witney Carson meet her husband?
Carson and McAllister met when they were students at the same school in Utah. McAllister previously told People that Carson was his “dream girl” since 7th grade, but added that she didn’t “notice” him until they were seniors in high school. They started dating in 2011, as Carson revealed in her October 2015 engagement announcement post, in which she noted that she and McAllister had been together four years when he proposed.
“We became really close friends and kinda started dating,” McAllister shared. “From the second I got to know her, I could tell she was the most loving and understanding girl I’d ever met.”
After high school, the two navigated a long-distance relationship. He spent two years in Romania on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Meanwhile, Carson began pursuing her dance career. She was on Season 9 of So You Think You Can Dance in 2012 and finished in the Top 6, then returned for Season 10 as an all-star in 2013.
That same year, Carson also became a member of the DWTS troupe during Seasons 16 and 17 before being promoted to a pro during Season 18 in 2014.
When McAllister returned home, Carson recalled that they went on “the most awkward first date ever because it felt like we still knew each other but things had changed so much.” However, things started getting “a little bit more comfortable” as time went on. She said they knew they were “meant for each other” after he took a trip to Mexico with her family.
What does Witney Carson’s husband do for a living?
Per his Instagram bio, McAllister is a mechanical engineer, although it’s unclear if he is actively working at the moment due to the family’s hectic schedule while Carson is on Dancing With the Stars.

In 2022, Carson revealed that her husband graduated from Utah Valley University. “Words can’t describe how proud I am of this guy!” she gushed. “It’s been six long years of rigorous work, sacrificing for me and my career, and here he is as a mechanical engineer graduate! Today, all of his professors told me how intelligent Carson is, and I was just beaming with pride! The sky is the limit for you babe! Can’t wait to see what you’ll do! We love you!!!!”
How many children does Witney Carson have?
Carson and McAllister are parents to two children. Their first son, Leo, was born in January 2021, followed by another son, Jet, in May 2023.
Carson took off from Dancing With the Stars during Seasons 29 in 2020 while she was pregnant with Leo, as well as Season 32 in fall 2023 while she was postpartum from Jet’s birth.
In a March 2024 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Carson said that she and her husband were going to “wait a minute” before trying to expand their family. “We’ll take it year by year,” she said, before adding that they “absolutely” want more kids and to “at least try for a girl” in the future.
“It’d be adorable,” she gushed. “OK, we’re putting it out there, yes.”
Where do Witney Carson and her family live?
While Carson and McAllister began their relationship in Utah, they decided to move to Florida in 2023. “Well you guys, we are moving…. TO FLORIDA!!🌴,” Carson shared on Instagram. “As hard as this change might be, I know it’s right for us right now. I’m filled with lots of emotions, but I really am excited to have this adventure with my little family. Im embracing the change, so here we go 2023!! In March 2024, they relocated to a new home in Orlando. “Well we moved… again! Same state, just a different house!” Carson explained. “This house checked all the boxes for our growing family, now it just needs our little spin on it 😘😍 Lots of renovating that’s already started- showing everything on here so follow along!”
Prior to moving, the couple had been looking for warmer places to live for about two years. They cited a desire to escape Utah’s harsh winters as a catalyst for the move. After McAllister’s sister moved to Florida, they “fell in love” with the area she lived in, and once a house became available, they “jumped on board.”
At the time of the move, Carson confirmed that the family would be keeping their Utah home and still planned to go back and forth between Florida and Utah, which is where her family lives.
When Carson is competing on Dancing With the Stars, her husband and sons relocate to Los Angeles with her. She revealed in a September Instagram video that she and McAllister are homeschooling the boys.
