Since the Stranger Things heartthrob’s romantic fate is as-of-yet unknown, we thought it was about time that we did a deep dive into the love life of the actor who plays him. A few weeks ahead of Season 5, the internet started shipping Keery with Sabrina Carpenter, who “arrested” him at one of her concerts. Is there something going on between them, or is Keery single? Who else has the actor dated, for that matter? Swooon has all the answers below.
Who is Joe Keery dating?
Though he was plenty eager to get Carpenter’s fuzzy pink handcuffs at Austin City Limits in October, Keery appeared to strike down the romance rumors when he was asked about them. “Oh, people will really take it and run,” Keery told Entertainment Tonight. “I’ll tell you that. I learned that from the internet.”

Other than that, the Fargo star tends not to discuss his dating life, so there’s no way of knowing if he’s single or not at the moment. Keery hasn’t been linked to anyone since February 2024, when he was last spotted with actress Chase Sui Wonders. Even then, the actor didn’t confirm or deny being off the market.
Wonders and Keery first sparked romance speculation in October 2023, when Page Six obtained photographs of the two strolling through New York City. Wonders had recently broken up with her boyfriend, Pete Davidson, while Keery’s last public relationship (more on that below) ended the previous year.
Who has Joe Keery dated in the past?
Keery’s only confirmed romance since he stepped into the spotlight was with Maika Monroe. After they met at a party in 2017 and became costars in After Everything, the actors started dating. Over the five years of their relationship, Keery and Monroe were each other’s dates to red carpets and other public events.

During an August 2021 interview with GQ, Keery brought up his then-girlfriend a number of times. “Over quarantine, it was like we spent so much time together, which was rare,” he said. “I mean, that’s one of the disadvantages of dating someone else in the industry. There are advantages as well: somebody who kind of understands what’s going on with you in a pretty deep way. But yeah, I think she’s like me. She doesn’t take it all too seriously.”
Their split was confirmed about two years later, when TMZ circulated photos of Monroe kissing Ariana Grande’s ex-husband, Dalton Gomez, in October 2023. They never announced their breakup publicly, but fans suspect it was sometime in 2022, based on an interview Keery did with Variety.
Describing filming Fargo, he said, “It’s a weird job, being an actor. You fly to a random place, move your whole life, and that is basically your new life for the next six months. I had also gone through a big breakup, right as I was leaving Rome, so I was really isolated and focused on my work. My social life pretty much revolved around the show; my work life revolved around the show. We weren’t really leaving due to COVID-19.”
