HGTV’s Jenny & Dave Marrs Reveal Favorite Christmas Tradition With Their 5 Kids

Jenny Marrs and Dave Marrs have a lot to celebrate this holiday season. Their HGTV show, Fixer to Fabulous, is currently airing its seventh season, and Jenny released her book, Trust God, Love People: Stories of My Openhanded Faith, in October.
“We’re ready for this holiday season to rest a little bit,” Dave admitted to Swooon. The couple shares five children and opened up all about their holiday plans, which includes a family-favorite Christmas tradition.
“We go to church on Christmas Eve, we go to Dave’s parents’,” Jenny dished. “And then Christmas morning the kids wake up and come downstairs. They have to stop at the top of the stairs and take their picture. The teenagers love that! And then they all come down together, and we take turns opening gifts, one gift at a time, so we can all see what they got.”
Dave added that he and his wife make it a “rule” to “be at our home on Christmas morning” ever since they had kids. “So, we don’t go anywhere,” he shared.

Jenny and Dave, who tied the knot in April 2005 and celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary earlier this year, welcomed their eldest sons, twins Nathan and Ben, in May 2010. While trying to conceive, the pair had begun the adoption process, which they started again a year and a half later. They finalized paperwork to adopt their daughter, Sylvie, from the Democratic Republic of Congo in August 2013, but didn’t bring her home for 11 months due to the Congolese government shutdown.
Amid this process, Jenny got pregnant with daughter Charlotte, who was born in May 2014, just two months before Sylvie, then a toddler, joined the family. The home renovation experts completed their family with son Luke in June 2019.
The children sometimes appear on Fixer to Fabulous, although Jenny and Dave have made it clear that being on-camera is their choice. “We don’t force them,” Dave explained. “Ben and Nathan and Sylvie, when they were younger, they loved coming out to the shop, and now they don’t. Now it’s more Charlotte and Luke. I am excited about the St. Jude episode [in Season 7], though, because our kids, when it is a really important project where you’re really helping out someone, they step up and make me such a proud dad. They’re incredible.”
