Six months after Grant Ellis and Juliana Pasquarosa announced their split via Instagram, she’s giving more insight into the timeline of their breakup.

The Bachelor exes announced they were ending their engagement on June 13, less than two weeks after they took a trip to Aruba with her family. Fans had already begun speculating that there was trouble in paradise before the vacation, and Pasquarosa offered some clarity over the confusion about why Ellis was in attendance on her family getaway.

“The trip was booked, and he ended up leaving early,” Pasquarosa explained on the Almost Famous podcast. “I mean, I think it was like … he just couldn’t do it, and it makes sense, and it was fair. But I think you have to understand, before we broke up — because I broke up with him — I think we were drifting a bit naturally. But he still talked to my parents. He still talked to my brother-in-law.”

Pasquarosa confirmed that she and Ellis had already been broken up for “a few weeks” when they released their respective statements on Instagram about the split. She noted that as soon as the finale of their season aired in March, they had trouble getting on the same page.

“I have to give him grace because it’s so hard when it feels like the world is coming at you. That’s how I felt after the finale aired, and I was hoping for his support the way I supported him, and it wasn’t,” she explained. “It was about the optics, and it was about what people are going to think. If we break up, they’re going to think this, and if we stay together, they’re going to think that. And I’m like, ‘I don’t care.'”

Pasquarosa said that Ellis was passionate about starting a music career and a dating app after The Bachelor ended, which made it feel like he wasn’t investing enough into their relationship. She also reiterated that he was more concerned about the “optics” of a breakup and said he started “game planning” ways that they could announce their split to the world shortly after the finale.

Now, months later, Pasquarosa has moved on and confirmed she’s seeing talking to someone new. “It’s fun and it’s flirty and I like that,” she dished. “I think that coming out of that, it was so hard that I think I’ve been taking things really, really slow again, and it put me back a little bit into my old ‘I hate men’ vibe, and I’m not a man-hater. I’m not a woman-hater. So, I think now I was like, ‘Let me just give this guy a shot.’ He’s blown me up for, like, three straight months nonstop, and I’ve been ghosting him, and I was like, ‘You know what? Screw it. You’re cute.’ So, we’re going to hang out.”
