Kate Gosselin caused a major stir with a recent TikTok video that she took while shopping with Steve Neild in New Zealand. Fans noticed that she was wearing a ring on her left ring finger, prompting speculation that she and her former bodyguard had tied the knot.
The comments section of Gosselin’s post was flooded with messages asking whether or not she’d secretly gotten married, and she finally addressed the rumors herself in a subsequent video.
“Guys, seriously? I am wearing the same rings that I have worn for 15, 20 years,” Gosselin said, shutting down reports that she and Neild are married. She then went on to show off the rings on both of her hands and explained where she got them.

“This is my ring that I bought myself in New Zealand when I was here the first time a million years ago,” Gosselin explained, while putting her right hand in the video frame. She revealed that she usually wears the ring on her middle finger, but “sometimes” moves it to her ring finger because her hands swell in warmer weather. Since she and Neild are currently in New Zealand where it’s summer, the jewelry has been living on her left hand.
“My other ring is the ring I bought myself in Mexico when I turned 40,” Gosselin continued, putting her left hand in the video. “When I took the kids there, I bought this for myself. And I also sometimes wear it on my ring finger. Normally, I wear it on my middle finger.”
Gosselin also replied directly to a commenter and confirmed, “That’s just my regular jewelry.”
In September 2025, Gosselin revealed that she had been dating someone for “the past year,” but was keeping the relationship private. She eventually confirmed Neild’s identity and has been featuring him on her TikTok page more and more in recent months.
The former reality star was previously married to Jon Gosselin for 10 years before they split in 2009. The exes share eight children. Jon is estranged from six of the children, but maintains a relationship with Hannah and Collin, both 21, who have been living with him for years.
