Who Is Jana Duggar’s Husband? A Guide to Her Family With Stephen Wissmann
Jana Duggar is building a happy life with her husband, Stephen Wissmann. The 19 Kids and Counting star spent years answering questions about her love life before finally settling down with Wissmann in 2024.
The pair knew each other for years before they developed a romantic relationship after reconnecting earlier that year. Now, they’ve started a family together and have shared plenty of exciting milestones as a couple.

What does Jana Duggar’s husband do for a living?
Stephen works for his family’s business, Wissmann Enterprises. He is an assistant manager at the company, whose projects include “commercial roof coatings, industrial blasting and painting, and excavation and trenching projects,” per their website. Wissmann Enterprises services several states in the midwest, with residential, business, and corporate projects.
Stephen and two of his brothers (there are 13 Wissmann siblings total), along with their father, Loren Wissmann, who founded the company, “work full time managing and operating the daily projects and tasks.” Wissman Enterprises is located in Nebraska, which is why Jana moved there from Arkansas when she married Stephen.
In addition to having a family company, the Wissmanns are also a Christian/gospel family music band. All 13 Wissmann children are part of the group, which performs locally, at churches, festivals, and more.
Per Stephen’s bio on his family’s website, he is a “man of many talents,” including being a pilot, making small furniture, and staying active by working out and playing sports. “He is gifted in initiating conversations that encourage and challenge, and he has a heart for ministry,” the bio reveals. “He directs a lot of our music arrangements, plays mandolin and guitar, and sings lead and bass.”
How did Jana Duggar meet her husband?
The couple met through their families. When Jana opened up about her relationship for the first time in 2024, she explained that she first met Stephen in 2011 when the Wissmanns, who traveled as a singing group, stopped by the Duggars’ home and ended up getting snowed-in there.
“I remember just playing games late into the night, doing puzzles together until the snow melted off, and they were able to travel back home,” she told People. “I don’t really remember Stephen that well because I’m older than him and so he was not at all on my radar.”
A few years before they got together in 2024, Jana and Stephen briefly dated and then “talked to each other on and off over the years,” despite the breakup.

When they reconnected again in early 2024, they realized, “We still enjoy each other. We still appreciate each other,” Jana explained. “I had been a slower mover on it, but just over time, his character, his coming back, still loving me no matter what. I know we have a big crazy family and still kind of putting up with a lot of things. I’m like, my goodness, there are not too many people that do that. He must really, genuinely care about me.”
The two secretly started dating and got engaged in June 2024. Even after Stephen popped the question, they did not publicly speak about their relationship until after they tied the knot two months later (although fans did notice that Jana had started wearing a ring on her left ring finger).
“For me, it felt like, ‘OK, it’s never coming.’ But now it’s starting to sink in,” Janna gushed. “Reality is starting to set in. And I’m like, ‘Wow, this truly is something that I’ve dreamed of.’ And just to see it coming about is incredible and kind of hard to believe. It’s a dream come true.”
Is Jana Duggar married to her brother-in-law?
Wissmann is not technically Jana’s brother-in-law, but he is the brother-in-law of her younger brother, Jeremiah Duggar. Jeremiah married Stephen’s sister, Hannah Wissmann, in 2022, so they’ve had a familial tie for years.

There is a three-and-a-half year age gap between Jana and Stephen. She was born on January 12, 1990, while he was born on July 15, 1993. When they got married, Jana was 34 and Stephen had just turned 31.

Yes, Jana gave birth to her and Stephen’s first child on December 30, 2025. They kept the baby’s arrival a secret for nearly a month, finally sharing the news on January 23, 2026.

Jana and Stephen first announced their baby news in August 2025, about a year after their wedding. “We are so excited, January 2026 is going to come with a little bundle of joy joining our family!” they wrote. “We’re counting down the days and eagerly looking forward to this thrilling new chapter in our lives!”
