‘The Bachelor’ Alum Nick Viall’s Kids: A Guide to His Family With Natalie Joy
Nick Viall has had his personal life on display since he first appeared on The Bachelorette in 2014. Another stint on The Bachelorette came next, followed by a stint on Bachelor in Paradise, and then his own season of The Bachelor in 2016.
But in 2020, he started a relationship with Natalie Joy, the woman whom he eventually married in April 2024. The two started a family together before even tying the knot and have been open about their fertility struggles over the years.
On February 4, Viall shared exciting news that he and his wife were expanding their family in a major way after dealing with several miscarriages. Scroll down for everything to know about their family.
How many kids does Nick Viall have?
Viall and Joy currently have one daughter, River Rose. She was born on February 2, 2024, just two months before the couple tied the knot. Joy carried River down the aisle on her wedding day to Viall.
Just two days after River’s second birthday, Viall and Joy took to Instagram to reveal that they’re now expecting TWINS, which means they’ll have three children by the end of 2026.
“Our rainbow babies are finally ready to join us and this time it’s TWINS 🌈🌈,” Viall captioned his post, which featured several photos of the family sharing the news. In the pics, Joy had her bare baby bump on display, while River wore a “Big Sis” shirt. There was also a sonogram of the twins featured.
Viall and Joy did not reveal when the babies are due, but considering their previous fertility issues, it’s likely they waited until a very safe time to announce the pregnancy, so the twins will likely arrive sometime in the late spring.
How many miscarriages did Nick Viall’s wife have?
Before getting pregnant with the twins, Joy had three miscarriages in 2025. After the third miscarriage in August 2025, Joy was still optimistic and hopeful that she would be able to have a successful pregnancy. “I’m working very closely with my doctors that I love and trust and eager to find out what’s going on so we don’t experience this heartbreak for a 4th time. love yall,” she wrote on Instagram at the time.
Viall shared news of his wife’s third pregnancy loss on an episode of The Viall Files on August 14, 2025. Prior to that, she had her first miscarriage in January 2025, and a second in March 2025.
When opening up about the second miscarriage, Joy revealed, “While mourning the loss of our second baby at the beginning of this year, I quickly and very unexpectedly found out I was pregnant again. It took some time for me to accept what had happened, only to be handed another chance so easily and so fast. But eventually, I found so much happiness. We were finally in a place of complete and utter gratitude. This past week, I miscarried again.”
She described the process of going through another miscarriage as “harder” than she imagined.
Why don’t Nick Viall and Natalie Joy show their daughter’s face?
Viall and Joy often post photos of River on social media, but they are careful to make sure her face is not visible to the camera. While they did share pictures of her face at first, they eventually dialed back and now keep their baby girl mostly private.

Joy explained why in August 2025. “Yes we decided to stop sharing River’s face publicly, honestly 1 to [sic] many people ‘recognized’ River at the park or at the airport and that made us think about it and ultimately it just made us uncomfortable,” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “Also the internet is a scary place. Wanna protect her at all costs. And ya know what we are honestly finding it very easy to still share our lives but just use a photo where her face isn’t front and center.”
What is the age difference between Nick Viall and Natalie Joy?
Viall and Joy have an 18-year age difference. When they first met in 2019 after she slid into his DMs, she had just turned 21, and he was a few weeks away from turning 39. Viall was admittedly anxious about the age gap at first, and said on The Squeeze podcast in 2023 that he turned his now-wife down several times before they officially started dating in 2020.
“When we first met, I had a lot of nervousness and reservations and fears about why we wouldn’t work, and I got in my head,” Viall admitted to E! “It was just about removing those fears, and not operating from a place of fear, but looking at what was great about our relationship.”
