‘When Calls the Heart’s Pascale Hutton on Rosemary & Lee’s ‘Next Big Step’ in Season 13

Hope Valley’s ultimate power couple is undoubtedly Rosemary (Pascale Hutton) and Lee Coulter (Kavan Smith). These two are always supportive partners to each other and are always looking for ways to help out the community.

With When Calls the Heart already well into Season 13, what’s next for Rosemary and Lee? In the aftermath of the fire at Goldie National Park, the Coulters decided to foster young Gwen (Alex Macisaac), whose father is currently hospitalized. Pascale Hutton spoke with Swooon about the couple’s journey for the rest of the season.

“Going forward, I think what you’ll see is the two of them come together and really work through this new dynamic in their family, which is this new girl, Gwen, who has been living with them,” Hutton said. “She kind of comes in with her own baggage and challenges the status quo of the Coulter household because she’s a strong energy and she’s got strong opinions.”

She continued, “Rosemary and Lee don’t even see eye-to-eye on how to step in as parents for her or guardians for her, so what’s really nice is that you see a continuation and kind of a natural evolution and coming together of those three characters in a really beautiful way. I think that’s the next big step for Rosemary and Lee this season.”

Rosemary keeps tabs on everything that’s going on in Hope Valley, especially when it comes to her best friend, Elizabeth (Erin Krakow). The show has been hinting that an Elizabeth and Nathan (Kevin McGarry) engagement could be on the horizon, so we had to ask Hutton if Rosemary would be the chief wedding planner.

“I don’t know if anyone has a choice,” Hutton quipped. “She loves love. She loves weddings and people being in love. And she would definitely want to be involved, given that it’s her best friend.”
