Among the couples to leave the promise room with promise rings was Vanelle and Jorge, who bonded even though Vanelle’s father warned her not to date anyone over 40. Are Age of Attraction‘s Vanelle and Jorge still together?
No, Vanelle and Jorge broke up during Episode 5 of the show’s debut season. The two made an early connection, bonding at the resort without knowing each other’s ages. In the promise room, they revealed their ages to each other, and Jorge turned out to be the oldest among the cast members.
Sharing a 33-year age difference with her over-40 beau, Vanelle knew that her father would not approve of her relationship. However, the two took a leap of faith, heading out of the resort together. Jorge waited until he and Vanelle left the resort (and the promise room) to reveal that he has kids.
Why did Vanelle and Jorge split?
Vanelle and Jorge broke up after a particularly shocking encounter with a man on the street. While we didn’t see Jorge’s argument with this man, Vanelle was clearly shaken by Jorge’s reaction after he claimed that he was trying to protect her. Jorge revealed, “We had an incident yesterday where some crazy guy comes walking up, you know, making threatening remarks. And I told him he better back up… So we exchanged comments, we exchanged remarks, and Vanelle took that some kind of way.”
Vanelle saw the situation differently, explaining, “I felt uncomfortable in that situation, and I just felt like it could have been handled differently.” This opened the floodgates for the couple, who were already questioning whether they were compatible.
In the promise room, Vanelle told Jorge that she had made a promise to God that she would stay celibate until marriage. Despite knowing that at the time, Jorge later told Vanelle that he believed she was trying to control their intimacy by allowing some things but not others in the bedroom. Ultimately, the two split at the end of their argument, with Vanelle telling viewers, “I don’t necessarily think it has anything to do with his age.”

In the promise room, Vanelle revealed that she is 27, and Jorge revealed that he is 60. At the time, Vanelle exclaimed, “Jorge is literally the same age as my parents.” While they did not make it to the family and friends visit as a couple, it’s clear that Vanelle’s parents would not have been thrilled about their daughter’s 33-year age gap with her new 60-year-old boyfriend.
