We’re already in the midst of Season 4 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, and Miranda McWhorter continues to be an absolute delight amongst the cast, with her dry humor, sharp wit, and those unmistakable facial expressions that say so much without a word. But now that her ex-husband, Chase McWhorter, is elbowing his way into the show — and, dare we say it, becoming a part of DadTok — it feels like the perfect time to take a little trip down memory lane and revisit the history of their relationship.

Here’s a complete relationship timeline for Miranda and Chase McWhorter, covering everything from how they met and fell in love to the reasons for their divorce and where they stand today.

A timeline of Miranda and Chase McWhorter’s relationship

2016

Miranda met Chase shortly after graduating high school in 2016. At the time, Chase — two years her senior — had just returned from a two-year LDS mission and slid into her DMs on Instagram to start a conversation.

The pair made their Instagram debut together in March 2016, when Miranda shared her first photo of them alongside a group of friends.

2017

Chase and Miranda tied the knot in May after dating for just one year. Shortly after the wedding, Chase shared the news on Instagram, writing, “Almost a week down… for marriage advice or questions let us know. We have all the answers 🙌🏽😂.”

2019

The couple announced in February 2019 that Miranda was expecting their first child, who they welcomed in September of the same year. They named their son Brooks.

2021

In 2021, Miranda and Chase welcomed their daughter, Cohen, affectionately nicknamed Coco. Both children often make appearances on Miranda’s social media, giving fans glimpses into family life.

2022

One year after welcoming their daughter, Chase and Miranda were implicated in the MomTok cheating scandal when Taylor Frankie Paul revealed she had split from her then-husband, Tate Paul. She claimed she had broken the rules of their “soft swinging” arrangement after “catching feelings” for a friend’s husband, who was widely rumoured to be Chase.

To this day, there are conflicting reports on what exactly occurred. On the show, Miranda alluded to her and Chase having sex in the same room as another couple, and kissing Taylor.

2024

In 2024, Miranda and Chase announced their divorce, saying the split was amicable and that they remained committed to co-parenting. “I think we both realized we’d gotten married a little prematurely,” Chase told Us Weekly at the time.

Chase later spoke openly about their involvement in the “swinger parties” during another interview with Us Weekly in September 2024.

2025

Miranda joined the cast of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives in Season 2 following her divorce. She said she wanted the opportunity to share her side of the swinging scandal and, ultimately, make peace with Taylor. She was officially embedded in the MomTok group in Season 3.

Why did Miranda and Chase divorce?

Both Miranda and Chase have said their divorce wasn’t solely the result of the 2022 swinging scandal, but rather stemmed from deeper, long-standing issues in their marriage, including poor communication and growing apart. According to them, the scandal simply intensified problems that were already present in their struggling relationship.

Are Miranda and Chase still friends?

Despite their divorce, the pair are shown to coparent successfully and even coexist as friends. Chase often posts TikToks with his ex, poking fun at their situation. Miranda doesn’t always approve of Chase’s behavior — as demonstrated during that volatile Halloween party in Season 3 — but she still stands by him at times, including when she called out Demi Engemann‘s reaction to him.

She was previously friends with his ex-girlfriend, Kate, but seems to draw the line at the idea of Taylor — one of her close friends — going on a date with him, as seen in Episode 1 of Season 4. Miranda also appears largely unfazed by Chase’s growing integration into DadTok, even as he joins the group on their trip to Vanderpump Villa.

Let’s see if Chase and Miranda can keep up this co-parenting dream team!
