Cher’s Son Chaz Bono Is Married! Meet His Wife Shara Blue Mathes
Chaz Bono is a married man! The only child of Cher and Sonny Bono tied the knot with his now-wife, Shara Blue Mathes, on Sunday, March 8, at The Hollywood Roosevelt, according to their wedding website. And yes, Cher was in attendance for the big day!

Who is Chaz Bono’s wife?
Shara is a case manager and harm reduction specialist at Housing Works, a nonprofit organization in Los Angeles. “Born out of the AIDS crisis in New York City, Housing Works is a healing community that fights for inclusive care, social justice, and an end to homelessness,” the company’s website says.
According to Shara’s LinkedIn, she has also been a sober companion since 2011 and previously worked as an alcohol and drug counselor.
Shara is a cancer survivor. She shared a video of her head being shaved after she completed chemo in 2021.
How did Chaz Bono meet his wife?
“Our relationship goes back to our teens meeting at Lee Strasberg Acting School,” the couple’s wedding website says. “Our life journeys continued over the years until we reconnected.”
Chaz confirmed to People that he and Shara met when they were teenagers, which was more than 40 years ago. “I think it’s safe to say that not many grooms ultimately end up marrying the very first girl they ever kissed so many years later,” he added.
The duo officially started dating in January 2017, with Chaz confirming the date by acknowledging their six-year anniversary in 2023. “Shara and I celebrated our 6 year anniversary together today. I’m so grateful to share my life with this amazing woman,” he wrote on Instagram.
Now that they’re married, Chaz and Shara will be heading to their honeymoon in Hawaii, per a Honey Fund website they created.
Do Chaz Bono and his wife have kids?
While Chaz and Shara don’t have any children together, she is the mother of a 25-year-old son named Cooper. In 2020, she celebrated his 20th birthday with a tribute on Instagram.
“20 years ago I gave birth to Cooper James! I love you and all that you are becoming,” Shara wrote. “Happy Birthday! Thanks for this post Shorty – I had made a collage but we don’t really have any new pics this year & yours is PERFECT!”
