  • The final season reveals if Amerie and Malakai, Darren and Ca$h, and more couples end up together.
  • Season 3 also gives Quinnie and Harper romances.

Heartbreak High‘s third and final season offers all of the messiness we’ve come to expect from the characters. It’s Year 12 and graduation is near, but the Hartley crew’s futures are put at risk when a prank goes wrong. (Warning: Spoilers for Heartbreak High Season 3 ahead!)

When they’re messing around on a carnival ride after hours, an employee catches them. An unknown person turns the ride on, knocking the worker to the ground and into a coma. So, instead of Season 2’s “Bird Psycho” mystery, we have the Carnival Ride Button Pusher in Season 3. While the Hartley crew tries to keep their involvement in the prank a secret, find the culprit, and make post-graduation plans, they also have to sort out their relationship drama. (They’re nothing if not multitaskers.)

At long last, we know the fates of Amerie (Ayesha Madon) and Malakai (Thomas Weatherall), Ca$h (Will McDonald) and Darren (James Majoos), and more. There’s a lot of ground to cover, so buckle up, SLTs. We’re breaking down all of the Heartbreak High endgames below.

Amerie and Malakai in 'Heartbreak High' Season 3

Netflix

Do Amerie and Malakai end up together in Heartbreak High?

Amerie starts Season 3 with a new boyfriend: Noah (Ioane Sa’ula), a golden student from a rival all-boys school whom she keeps no secrets from. His stability levels out Amerie’s chaos, but it’s not enough to keep them together, especially when Malakai moves back into town and stirs up old feelings.

When Sasha (Gemma Chua-Tran) is exposed as the button pusher, she begs the group not to turn her in, explaining that she felt excluded by her friends and didn’t mean to hurt anyone. She’ll be tried in court as an adult — but 17-year-old Amerie won’t. Amerie tells Noah her plan to take the blame, since the prank was her idea in the first place. He asks Amerie not to throw away their futures, insisting that it will change everything. Amerie agrees and ends their relationship. (Ultimately, Sasha turns herself in first and gets off with community service.)

Now, let’s get into what you’re here for: Amerie and Malakai. Amerie realizes she doesn’t really want to study psychology in college. Like Harper (Asher Yasbincek), she hasn’t figured it out yet. So, Amerie decides to join Harper on her planned post-graduation road trip, but Malakai runs in front of their car before they can get too far. He couldn’t let Amerie go without saying goodbye.

Prior to all of this, Malakai came back from Switzerland for a visit, ultimately getting stuck at Hartley while he heals from his carnival-induced shoulder injury. Malakai finds out that Amerie never got his love letter, and his feelings resurface as they spend more time together during Year 12. After Malakai confesses to what he wrote, Amerie tells him that he’s too late. She’s happy with Noah… or so she tells herself.

After Malakai bids Amerie goodbye, Harper starts driving again, but Amerie makes her stop. She sprints down the street and launches herself into Malakai’s arms. “I know we’ve been through s**t, but that only makes it more for me,” Amerie says, which Malakai agrees with. They say “I love you,” and Malakai promises he’ll be there when she gets back.

Do Darren and Ca$h end up together in Heartbreak High?

Ca$h realizes he’s not interested in sex in Season 2, which he struggles to navigate with Darren. They’ve figured it out between Season 2 and 3, though: Darren is free to hook up with others. Ca$h says they had to get good at talking and listening before they could get there. Ca$h can also press pause on the arrangement whenever.

They face a few roadblocks in the final season, though. Ca$h is angry at Darren for going along with the prank, risking their happiness. After a bout of uncharacteristic self-doubt, Darren also resolves to pursue acting in New York City after graduation. At first, Ca$h plans to go with them, but he’s thriving in his tattoo apprenticeship and doesn’t want to leave his Nan.

Darren also has some more hesitations about going after their dream. They don’t want to miss out on everyone’s lives in Sydney, but Ca$h encourages them to go. “Things are gonna be different, but no one’s gonna forget about you, Darren,” he assures Darren. “That would be impossible.”

We see that holds true in the montage in the finale episode. Ca$h reminds Darren that he loves them over text, and Darren replies with a heart emoji, thriving in acting class.

Quinni and Taz in 'Heartbreak High' Season 3

Netflix

Who does Quinnie end up with in Heartbreak High?

After Quinnie (Chloe Hayden) and Sasha’s relationship crashes and burns in Season 1, the former doesn’t find another connection until Season 3, when troublemaking new girl Taz (Aki Munroe) enrolls at Hartley. At first, they have more of an enemies dynamic, especially when Taz starts renting out the school’s sensory room for other students to have sex in.

Taz even hooks up with Sasha in the room, ultimately being discovered by Quinnie. Quinnie, of course, goes right to Principal Woodsy (Rachel House), who doubles as Taz’s aunt and new guardian. To get back at Quinnie, Taz exposes that she’s the anonymous writer who’s been posting an erotic fantasy story called “Velvet Thrones” online. (It’s become popular among the student body.)

When the news drops, Quinnie’s in the middle of interviewing for a university scholarship, giving the man a tour of Hartley. She wants to train to be a horse veterinarian at university, but her interviewer thinks her centaur “Velvet Thrones” characters could indicate that she has a… perverse interest in horses. Quinnie loses her shot.

It doesn’t stop Taz from growing feelings for Quinnie, as they bond over “Velvet Thrones” and find out they have quite a few interests in common. Taz ditches her situationship with Sasha and kisses Quinnie. However, Taz’s betrayal comes to light (courtesy of a bitter Sasha), and Quinnie puts the brakes.

Quinnie and Taz manage to reconcile in the end. In the finale montage, they’re planning to publish Qunnie’s story together.

Harper in 'Heartbreak High' Season 3

Netflix

Who does Harper end up with in Heartbreak High?

Season 2 sees Harper find a connection with Ant (Brodie Townsend). She isn’t ready for a relationship after her Season 1 trauma, which she tells him, but their status is a bit murky by the end of Season 2. Season 3 doesn’t touch on their relationship in the slightest, giving Harper a romantic arc with Liam (Ben Turland) instead.

Liam is the son of the carnival owner, whom Harper works for, and the stepson of the man that the gang put into a coma. Still, Liam and Harper grow closer, especially as he helps her save her ruined art project. He also encourages Harper to take charge of her own life and not force herself into university if her heart isn’t set on it.

The morning after Harper and Liam sleep together, Amerie mistakenly claims that Liam is the button pusher. He’s arrested. Liam is eventually cleared of charges when Sasha comes forward. By then, his burgeoning romance with Harper is nipped in the bud. (It’s Harper and Amerie who, as Amerie puts it, are destined for each other.)

Spider and Missy in 'Heartbreak High' Season 3

Netflix

Do Spider and Missy end up together in Heartbreak High?

Spider (Bryn Chapman-Parish) and Missy (Sherry Lee-Watson) surprised everyone when they got together in Season 2. When they start secretly hooking up, Missy inspires Spider to drop his toxic masculinity and become a devoted boyfriend. Though Missy initially doesn’t want to tell anyone that they’re dating, she and Spider go public at the school dance in Season 2.

But when Season 3 picks up, Missy is pulling away from Spider. At first, she thinks it has to do with the stress of the prank. Spider wonders if it’s because Missy, who’s bisexual, feels like she’s missing out on sex with women. He decides to give Missy a hall pass, which she tries to take advantage of when she goes to a party.

Spider quickly finds that he’s not comfortable with the arrangement after all, and he goes to the party to tell Missy about his change of heart. In an unexpected turn, Spider’s confronted with the sight of Missy kissing her best friend, Malakai. (They decide it was a drunken mistake and remain friends.)

Try as they might, Spider and Missy can’t recover their relationship. In Episode 7, Missy reveals that she can’t envision a future with Spider, and his comment at the carnival about her being “the mother of [his] babies” irked her. Though she knows it was a joke, she realizes she couldn’t picture a future with Spider.

There are no hard feelings between them in the end. At the schoolies party, Missy tells her ex, “I keep waiting for you to hate me,” to which he responds, “I could never.” In the finale montage, Missy gets drafted to play professional football, and Spider is happy as a clam coaching a kids’ basketball team.
