Kitty Song Covey (Anna Cathcart) isn’t known as the chaos queen for nothing. Since she made the trek from Portland to Seoul at the start of XO, Kitty, the protagonist has acquired a complicated friend group, to say the least, since they don’t shy away from dating each other. Though the love web got slightly less complicated in Season 3 — which sees Kitty decide to place all her focus on one love interest for a change — a few relationship statuses have changed among the KISS crew. (Warning: The following contains MAJOR spoilers for XO, Kitty Seasons 1-3.)
At the end of the page, we have a visual aid that shows where Kitty and all her friends stand romantically, but we’ll provide a written recap to help you out. We can’t forget how it all started, with Kitty moving to a whole new country in part to be with her first love, Dae (Minyeong Choi). They dated long-distance years before the show picks up. When she arrives in Korea unannounced, which earns her her “Portland Stalker” nickname, Kitty finds out that Dae is in a (fake) relationship with Yuri (Gia Kim). Kitty and Dae’s relationship never quite recovers, though they don’t officially break up until the Season 1 finale. In Season 3, Dae starts dating Eunice (Han Bi Ryu) officially.
Winding it back, the introduction of Yuri presents a number of complications for Kitty. To put it simply, Yuri is Kitty’s bisexual awakening, and her feelings for her friend grow stronger over the course of Season 1. She only realizes them come the finale episode, so Kitty spends Season 2 navigating her crush. Unfortunately for Kitty, by then, Yuri is dating Juliana (Regan Aliyah). But when Kitty and Yuri grow closer and kiss, Juliana finds out and ends things with her girlfriend. Yuri is still in love with Juliana at that point, and she decides she only sees Kitty as a friend by the end of Season 2. That doesn’t change in Season 3.
We can’t forget that while she’s crushing on Yuri in Season 2, Kitty also tries to feel things out with then-new student Praveena (Sasha Bhasin), though Kitty can’t totally commit to her because of Yuri. But when it becomes obvious that Kitty’s feeling lie elsewhere, Praveena gets with Juliana. That, too, doesn’t last, with the two breaking up by the end of Season 3. Juliana is still hung up on Yuri. Yuri returns the sentiment, though neither officially get back together or define where they’re at by the end of Season 3.
Of course, we can’t forget about Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee), who’s been pining after Kitty since Season 1. He declares his feelings for her, only to be rejected, leading him to having a fling with Madison (Jocelyn Shelfo) and a relationship with the villainous Stella (Audrey Huynh) in Season 2. But Kitty realizes that she likes Min Ho as more than a friend by the finale episode. At long last, the two are able to be together in Season 3, though a number of internal and external obstacles result in Kitty and Min Ho’s temporary breakup. However, they realize that they’re meant to be in the Season 3 finale.
All the while, Kitty’s bestie, Q (Anthony Keyvan) has had his own relationship drama. Between Seasons 1 and 2, Q breaks up with Florian (Théo Augier) to have a track rivals-to-lovers arc with Jin (Joshua Lee). They’re going strong until Marius (Sule Thelwell), who hooked up with Q in secret in previous years, returns to KISS in Season 3. Q decides to snuff out his connection with Marius, and in the Season 3 finale, Jin agrees to let Q try to make up for his infidelity with Marius. Q and Jin are back together after their temporary breakup.
Last but not least, separate from the friend group but still within the KISS sphere, are Jiwon (Hojo Shin) and Alex (Peter Thurnwald). When the former, Kitty’s cousin, takes a job at the school, Kitty thinks she’s the perfect match for her other teacher, Alex. Her hunch turns out to be correct, because they’d already secretly fallen in love. Jiwon is pregnant by the end of Season 3, and the two are all in with each other.
