The Challenge fans are buzzing over new content from show veterans Johnny Bananas and Nany Gonzalez. In fact, many commenters are wondering if these new photos and videos are evidence that the two may be more than friends (again).
While Bananas and Nany are playing coy about their actual relationship status, fans are definitely shipping them together, as evidenced by the comments section of two recent Instagram posts.
The first shows the two sitting next to each other on a boat, with Bananas playing guitar, and Nany cozying up to him to take a photo. “Ride or die? We prefer *Banany*,” they captioned the joint post, which also featured the picture that they took in the video,
Nany posted another image from the boat to her page. In the shot, the MTV stars sat at the front of the boat with their backs to the camera. “Too cool of a photo not to post,” she captioned it.
“I am honestly embarrassed at how giddy I am to see all this banany [content] this week,” one person commented. One fan wrote, “I really really hope y’all are dating!! and I hope y’all are happy. You both deserve it so much!!” and another person said, “I’m not sure what’s happening here, but i am honestly all for it. You both have a long history, shared experiences, and it looks like you have a soul mate energy.”
Indeed, Bananas and Nany go way back. He made his Challenge debut in 2006, while she joined the show in 2012. They had a brief fling, which led to their pairing on The Challenge: Battle of the Exes II in 2014 (they finished in fourth place). The two teamed up again on The Challenge: Ride or Dies in 2022, and just missed out on winning, ultimately finishing as runners-up.
While Bananas has been on 23 seasons of The Challenge flagship show (in addition to spinoffs) and won seven times, Nany has yet to take home a win in her 13 seasons as a contestant.
“Idk why I feel like these two are gonna end up together one day,” another commenter noted, and someone else urged, “Just get married.”
