Who is Julie LaPlaca?

Julie was a producer on The Bachelor from January 2014 to February 2021. According to Entertainment Weekly, Julie was a “date producer” beginning with Andi Dorfman‘s season in 2014. She was then “tapped to work directly with the lead for the first time” in 2019 for Hannah’s season. She explained, “The storyteller side of me was really excited when I made that shift because we’re really crafting a 20-hour rom-com.”

What is The Love Producer about?

Julie’s upcoming memoir, The Love Producer, is about her time working on The Bachelor and her own love life, which was “unraveling” while she was working on the series. She told EW, “The Love Producer is about me, the girl who was always behind the scenes, never the lead, helping everyone else find love. And as a result, neglecting my own love and happiness. Then I was linked in the tabloids to a Bachelor and got a little entangled with that fantasy, which ultimately led me to a mid-30s meltdown, where I quit and embarked on my own journey for love.” This Bachelor was none other than Peter.

Did Julie LaPlaca date Peter Weber?

In the gap between Hannah’s season of The Bachelorette and the premiere of Peter’s season of The Bachelor, there were mountains of online speculation that Peter had found love with his producer, Julie, instead of one of his cast members, after the duo was spotted spending New Year’s Eve together. Peter went on to propose to Hannah Ann Sluss, and date Madi Prewett and Kelley Flanagan from his season, not Julie.

She told Entertainment Weekly, “Peter and I instantly connected. He felt like an immediate best friend. My job is digging into his heart, getting him to be vulnerable — and I was doing the same. There were moments where I was like, ‘Wow, I’m more open with Peter than I was with my boyfriend of five years.’ There’s this interesting bond that people don’t see, the intimacy that the lead producers have with the people they’re with. … It got complicated, and lines became blurred.”

When asked if Peter was going to think of her memoir, Julie shared, “He’s not happy about it.”

When does The Love Producer come out?

The Love Producer comes out on July 7, but it already has Bachelor Nation and some of the franchise’s biggest stars talking! Ashley Iaconetti, who currently stars on The Real Housewives of Rhode Island, shared, “I’ve always thought that the drama that happens in Bachelor Nation off camera is just as juicy as what happens on camera, and The Love Producer proves it. This book is brain candy for the pop culture–loving, romantic millennial. Julie wrote the ultimate page-turning chick lit . . . except it’s her true story.”

Similarly, Kaitlyn Bristowe wrote, “Bachelor Nation, this book is for you. Julie gives readers a front-row seat to the drama, heartbreak, and hope that unfolds as she crafts happily ever afters for television while trying to navigate her own love story. It’s raw, funny, and as relatable as it is entertaining.”

The Love Producer by Julie LaPlaca hits shelves on July 7, 2026.
