The Summer Oath, which is now available for download, is a rom-com is inspired by Shakespeare‘s Love’s Labour’s Lost. It follows bestselling romance author Livia Gaines (Hawke), who’s been dealing with writer’s block since her longtime boyfriend broke her heart. With her deadline coming up and increasing pressure from her publisher, Livia heads to a secluded Hamptons estate to to work. Her two best friends also need an escape, so they join her.
Livia, Zara (Saturday Night Live‘s Ego Nwodim), and Eloise (Supergirl‘s Milly Alcock) make a pact to avoid romantic entanglements for the rest of the summer, but that’s easier said than done. A new group arrives, claiming that they’ve reserved the estate for themselves, and they all have to live under the same roof. Ezra Keats (Apa), Livia’s college crush, is among her new housemates. As her attraction to Ezra resurfaces, Livia’s friends also secretly abandon their promises. The Summer Oath is all about the idea that sometimes the best stories are the ones we can’t control, as Livia starts to realize that her own messy romance might be the one worth writing about.
