Eileen Davidson‘s soap career started on The Young and the Restless, but her most memorable daytime role outside of Ashley Abbott is undoubtedly Kristen DiMera. In this exclusive preview of the May 5 edition of the Soapy podcast, Davidson opens up about returning to Days of Our Lives in 2013 and the origins of Kristen and Brady’s (Eric Martsolf) controversial romance.
Davidson calls her 2013 return to Salem one of the “best years” of her life, “creatively” speaking. “I won my first Emmy that year. I worked with Eric Martsolf, who was a dream,” she says.
The actress admits she initially didn’t realize Kristen and Brady would be romantically paired because of the age gap. “I was in the makeup chair, going, ‘Why am I working with this guy? He’s, like, younger than me. I don’t get this story,'” she recalls.

“I didn’t know what I was walking into,” Davidson explains. “It was a great story. Chris Whitesell wrote it. He was brilliant. He wrote the whole thing where Kristen seduces Brady, who’s the son of John [Drake Hogestyn], who’s her ex-lover. She ends up seducing him, convincing everybody she’s the good girl, and then stabs John in the back.”
She adds, “It was brilliant, really. Uses the son to destroy the father. It was Greek. It was fabulous.”
