Soap fans were stunned when Cameron Mathison and his ex-wife, Vanessa, announced their split in 2024 after more than two decades of marriage. The General Hospital star has been candid that his divorce was a “surprise” to him.
In a new interview, Mathison opened up about his love life today and whether or not he’s in a relationship. Turns out, the soap actor has been dealing with some of the same dating woes as the rest of us.
“In this almost three years of being single, I have been dating. I have been dating,” he told Us Weekly.
Mathison dished that he’s been on the dating apps ever since he started trying to get back out there. “The whole app world is new to me. It was a new world, and I gotta be honest, I got a little caught up in it,” he admitted. “Got a little busy ‘cause I wasn’t used to having to meet people. You just have to go and… It was a lot easier to connect with people, which I think is a beautiful thing.”
The All My Children alum admitted he was “trying to distract from a broken heart,” but he did meet “a lot of amazing people” in the process of dating again. “One in particular that became a more committed sort of situation, but at the same time, I hadn’t been ready for anything more serious,” he revealed.
Mathison didn’t disclose the name of the woman with whom he was in a “more committed” situation. He then alluded to still being single. “I’ve stepped back big time, basically off the apps and all that kind of stuff ‘cause it was a bit much for me. I need time to heal and do my thing. But yes, I was busy for a while there, but slowed down.”
Mathison and his ex-wife, who share kids Lucas and Leila, had already split when the soap star lost his home in the January 2025 Los Angeles wildfires. The GH star said on the I Choose podcast that he stayed at Vanessa’s place in the aftermath, which allowed them to find a “real place of love and care and support” following their divorce.
