This Hallmark/Disney Channel crossover would be music to our ears!
Ahead of the Season 1 finale of Hope Valley: 1874, Jedidiah Goodacre, Lachlan Quarmby, and Roan Curtis sat down with Swooon to discuss their blossoming love triangle, and, of course, the beloved Disney Channel Original Movie Descendants.
Long before he won our hearts as Clayton, the local Hope Valley blacksmith, Goodacre waltzed onto our screens as Chad Charming, the son of Cinderella and Prince Charming, in the Descendants franchise, which follows the children of popular Disney movies’ heroes and villains.
Anyone who’s been watching the Hallmark+ series Hope Valley: 1874 will know that Goodacre’s performance is pure magic, along with the other two members of his trio, Quarmby (Alexander) and Curtis (Olivia). For that reason, we had to ask his costars which Disney characters they would want to play in the Descendants universe.
“Blue Fairy,” Providence Falls star Quarmby told us without hesitation. When asked if he wanted to be the Blue Fairy’s (from Pinocchio) child or straight up play the Blue Fairy, he replied, “Straight up.” Don’t worry, we’ve added a visual below.

In a similar vein, Curtis, known for Firefly Lane, told Swooon, “My go-to in my head is like, ‘Oh, one of the blonde girls. I’m probably an Aurora or a Cinderella or something adjacent to those. But I also think spiritually, I’m probably like a Jiminy Cricket.” Laughing, she added, “I don’t know if they’ve got bugs [in Descendants].”

While the two originally went the Pinocchio route, Quarmby asked, “Is there any evil prince or something? Is there, like, some super evil guy’s evil son?” Once we floated the idea of him playing Gaston from Beauty and the Beast, he was fully on board.
In response, Curtis added, “I’ve got an amendment to my answer, which is those girls in Beauty and the Beast who are kind of just like Gaston groupies. I’m one of those, for sure. I just love the unabashed fangirl bimbo-y vibes.”

Of course, if Quarmby and Roan were to join the Descendants universe as any characters, bugs, or otherwise, their Hope Valley: 1874 costar would need to return too. After all, Goodacre did confirm that he would be more than willing to reprise his role.
“I was lucky enough to be invited down for the premiere of Descendants: The Rise of the Red and got to meet Malia Baker, who plays my younger sister [Chloe Charming] in the universe, and she was such a sweetheart. And it was such a cool experience to see a few of the Descendants from my time, and then the new ones who are carrying on the tradition,” he shared.
“I would totally go back for something in that world,” Goodacre concluded, “Chad is just such a fun character to play, and I would take any opportunity to do it again.” The only question is, can he bring his Hope Valley: 1874 costars with him to Auradon?
