On the premiere of Deadliest Catch Season 22, Jake Anderson confirmed that he and wife Jenna Anderson were divorcing after 13 years of marriage. In Episode 2, he gives some more insight into the split, including who initiated the breakup.
After taking over as captain of the Cornelia Marie, Phil Harris‘ old boat, Jake gets a phone call from his lawyer, who has an update on the divorce proceedings.
“Bring me some [crab],” the lawyer laughs, to which Jake replies, “I will. Get me to not pay alimony, and I’ll give you a house!”
The talk then gets serious, with Jake’s lawyer advising, “Once a divorce is filed, it’s business funds. I recommend putting it in a business account.” This prompts Jake to clarify, “But she’s entitled to half of that money still?”
The lawyer confirms that Jenna will be “entitled to half” of the money. “Don’t worry,” he adds. “We’ll help you through it. Don’t make any rash decisions.” Jake admits that this is “s**t I don’t want to hear,” and in a confessional, he starts to get emotional.
“It sucks going through a divorce that you don’t even want to happen,” Jake says. “Jenna left me, and now I’m here.” Later, he takes a phone call from his son, who wants to know when his dad is coming home.
“When you come home, can we go to the arcade where we play laser tag?” Jake’s son asks. He responds, “That sounds like so much fun. We can do whatever you want when I get home.”
In another confessional, he shares, “I miss Jenna a lot, but I do this for one reason and one reason only, and that’s my kids. That’s what I’m here to do. It’s a lot of pressure to have on me, the fact that this was Phil’s boat, but this is just the beginning.”
Before their 2025 separation, Jake and Jenna were together for 17 years total. They tied the knot in 2012 and share three children.
